The Final, Absolute, Definite iPod Solution ?

What I've got: '05 MCS w/ NAV, Factory Sirius, and HK. No CD Changer.

What I want to do:

Take my 4G iPod, mount it on the vertical piece to the right of the head unit and have the iPod display on the Head Unit and be controlled by the MFSW. The car should also charge the iPod.

What will it take to do this?

Thanks!

A miracle.

Seriously I have looked at this too and even the guru's over at Mini2 seem stumped to greater or lesser degrees with this issue. I think the Denison unit is gonna get you the closest. It will let you have the ID3 tags on the head unit, see the iPod display and charge the iPod. I think it will work with factory Sirius but don't hold me too that. Mikeythemini at newministuff.com is probably the guy you want to ask though.

My solution was to just forget the factory system and HU and convert to an aftermarket system. By the time I offset the price of the HK system, the ICE>Link Plus and Sirius, I am pretty much able to get an Alpine system that works with the MFSW and displays the iPod info on the 7" LCD of the DVD HU for about $2k and sounds way better IMHO than the HK unit.

Any Final, Absolute, Definite iPod Solution should be integrated with the Nav unit display. MikeyTheMini at Mini2 seems to be working on one and has some photos of a prototype. It is a shame that the large prominent, hi-tech color display is not put to better use. You'd think that it should at least display HU information, not to mention other functions of the car.
