Could Liquid Yellow come back?

some people like LY, some people hate it. i happen to love it. just as much as you love the color of your MINI. now that they configurator is actually up and it is painfully official that LY is gone, it's really hitting me hard. it's making me wonder what the heck MINI USA is thinking. they are taking away one of the things that makes the MINI so special... and that's choice.

have you looked at the colors available? they are nice but for the most part, they look like a dreary day in london. three shades of gray available, two reds, two blues and a bluish-purple? and taking JB away is clearly a blatant attempt to squeeze another $450 out of you.

whether your favorite color is still available or not, what's happened has taken a huge part of the personality of the car away. or maybe i'm just bummed that my plan for my 06 dream mini has been smashed before my very eyes.

here's the point...

if you are disappointed in the color changes for this year (regardless of if you are in the market for an 06 or not) call 866-ask-mini and tell them that you are. let them know specifically what color you are upset about, but also tell them that you are unhappy in general about the choice being taken away.

can we make a difference? can we get LY, EB or JB back? MINIUSAs marketing plan relies heaviliy on grass roots, word-of-mouth efforts so they should be very responsive to a campaign such as this. i think yes.

I love my LY, but i wouldn't have gotten it if i could ahve gotten an EB.

I'm very very upset EB is going, that was by far the bestest color i've ever seen on a car.

Liquid Yellow is still there!

I am looking at the configurator as I type this and Liquid Yellow is still an option for the Cooper. Now it is gone for the MCS. I dont know about the Convertables (Dont want a Convertable).

I agree that the color choices look very dull. The choices will make my EB more exclusive, but it is a shame to lose such a bright and cheery color.

I agree...I've a chili red MC...my second choice would've been liquid yellow....I was also considering a MCS at the time and would've gone with Electric Blue

the new colors do look kinda boring for the "s"....I'm curious to see the solar red for the MC

I saw actual paint samples of the new colors at the dealer the other day.

Solar Red looks fantastic

Space blue looks like the dark blue commonly seen on BMW's

Royal Grey is a bit brown and not very attractive IMO

Sad to see EB go away. ..

I'd like to vote for an Olive Green.

My prediction...Liquid Yellow will not come back. (I love LY, too, btw) In fact it may be phased out altogether eventually. I'll bet, one day, a new yellow will take its place. Same with EB...the pendulum will swing and something new (similar but not the same) will take it's place. The "muted colors" thing currently impacting the MCS is temporary.

I totally made this up...but that's what I expect to happen.

i just hope i can stand to wait for it to shake out. i really wanted to get an 06. i'm not interested in what i'm hearing now about the 07s. its really got me stuck between a rock and a hard place.

do i want the stability and comfort of the 06 with a 2nd or 3rd choice color or the question mark of the 07 with the possibility of better colors? i was an early adopter and bought an 02 and there were some bugs that i had to live through plus the 05-06 changes are really kick A$$. other than the color of course.

anyone have any input to help me sort this out?

I'm impressed with Solar Red, but not being able to get Liquid Yellow is a bummer. LY, CR and EB are my all time favorites.

I'll say this - on the site, the colors SUCK. In person, they are 10x as bright. Even the carry-over colors look like crap on the site right now - and it's not me, my monitors are calibrated. They just have some really bad color code in that flash app right now. The space blue isn't even CLOSE to how it really looks!

Drab is right. I'm glad someone else thought that new gray
looked brown. Maybe like a polluted sky on a typical drab London day?

They need to look at the colors of the Lotus Elise.
Now that is color !

On the plus side - I now own a limited edition collectible color.

i've seen all the colors in person and, yes, they are nice colors. no question. however, they are all just versions of standard car colors... green, red, blue, grey. yeah, there's purple but its a dark purple. oh yeah, white.

look, don't get my wrong, i love these cars - anyone who drives by my house knows it. these quality, fun cars with lot's of personality but this color thing is just wrong. of course, this just my opinion.

LY was discontinued only for the convertible as I recall. It may also be only for the S convertible. Which means that I have the collector's item!

Sadly I don't think it sold very well the dealers never had them in stock so all the picutures were on computers and that didn't show the color correctly...

Too bad for The LY, it looks awsome with the aerokit and custom wheels. I would like to see a real orange.

I noticed the MC has three colors that aren't metallic, ($450 extra) and the MCS has two. If they drop a few more non-metallic colors your MINI will come with no paint unless you fork over another $450.

Sounds like a price increase without calling it that.

It's been tough guys n gal's. last month I traded in my 2003 EB/B hard top for a very cool 2005 D/metallic grey MCS/C. I love the upgrades I can actually feel the difference in the color change. The EB was a happy toy like ride best ever. The D/MG MCSC is just smokin' but gone is the fun toy like feel I loved so much in my EB. My new covertable has more of a sleaker /cooler grown up feel to it. I love the new wheels the evolution from 2003 to 2005 is just awsome but EB will definatly be miss'ed.

My car just has a different personality Its really weird but very true. I even feel different driving it

I'l happily pay $450 more for a new MCS in LY.

Heck if they had it, I would definitley buy an LY 06 with Sport, Cold and JCW packages so they might just lose $30k out of it.

Not that they have any trouble selling cars.

I personally wouldn't feel compfortable in a LY MINI, but I am 100% for everybody elses ability to get one!

I think they should expand the colors to 15 and revive EB, LY, expand HO, and add a lime green and maybe even turquoise... oh heck, just do custom color mixes for $500 a pop and let everybody pick their own uni que shade!!!!
(hey that would be too cool...)
