It sounds like it was not as devastating in Mexico City...
where I think chobe and a few others live. It will probably be
a while before we hear anything from them though because
of power outages.

My dear Friends from Mini Cooper on Line.
We did felt the earthquake here in Mexico City, thank God there where no mayor damages to the city.
The bad part is that back in Colima where the earthquake got its epicenter, 32 people died from falling houses or buildings, and there are about 500 injured.
I remember back in September 19 1985 a big earthquake 8.0 Richter scale, in that earthquake 10,000 people lost their life.
I want to thank all of you for you’re concern, I assume that mexmini is also OK.
My good friend 2minis I’m still here, and some day I’ll fly to you’re home town and will have a beer.
Thank you all.

Thank you everyone for asking.

There was no damage in Mexico City, only minor things here and there. The epicenter was in the state of Colima, in the pacific coast, and there was quite some damage to many properties, more properties damaged than casualties fortunately.

Yeah, I remember the one in 1985, I was on vacation and staying with a friend, Aurora, in Taxco, we were on a bus, heading from Taxco, to Mexico city, to visit other friends and some of her relatives, when the earthquake hit. It was really scary. We were supposed to be staying with a friend of Aurora's, that lived near the Zocalo, but we got delayed in Taxco. The next day was when the earthquake hit, Aurora's friend died when her building collapsed. It was horrible. I feel very lucky, as we were supposed to be in that building at the time.

I'm glad to hear you and meximinime are ok, God Bless and best wishes to all in Mexico.

Thanks to everyone for your concern..
I've been in L.A. for a few days now, so I heard about the quake from my girlfriend in Mexico. Looks like everything is ok.
I survived the big L.A. quake when I was living there in the early 90's, and it was quite an ordeal as our house suffered extensive damage that time around, so I have a profound respect for quakes now.
I'm glad to hear everyone's ok, though, and that my garage didn't cave in on EL MINI while I was gone!
