aux cuts outs w/ iPod

hi all,

i installed the aux input into my brand new MCS last night.

it works fine w/ the ipod when the ipod runs off its internal battery.

but when the car charger is hooked in thru the dock connection
on the bottom of the ipod, the aux input will disappear after
several minutes. unplugging the charger either at the cigarette
lighter or at the ipod restores the availability of the aux input.

the jack does appear to be plugged in securely into the back of
the HU.

any ideas on how to fix this??

I think there was a post about a ground loop isolator being need, or something like that. This was a problem with satellite radio. I'm sorry I don't know more, but I think you'll find what I'm referring to in a search.

the ground loop isolator from RS did the job.
i'd like to hide it behind the dash,
does RS or parts express have a female to
stereo RCA adapter with a threaded fitting similar
to piece that mates w/ the aux input cover plate??

replacing the ipod car charger w/ the one from the
belkin auto kit eliminated the need for the RS ground loop isolator (GLI).

the additional benefit of the belkin kit is that it pulls the audio
from the line out at the dock connector and has a mini output
at the charger end.

end result, only one connection required at the ipod and i was able
to replace my 6' 1/8th" to 1/8th" stereo cable w/ a 6" cable.
