Oh no, the doors came off.

Just stumbled on this tuner MINI image. Not my personal taste but I thought I'd share anyway.
Enjoy

Though I’ve not seen this one, pictures on MINIs with lambo doors are nothing new.

I don't care for the paint. But I have though of doing Lambo doors on my car to give it something that very very very few people do on MINIS . But to do the doors costs about $800 for parts plus a good installer's costs.

I forget the company in West Covina, California that makes the kits, but the kits they make allow the doors to open out and upwards, or open fully outward normally.

Basically, you get to show off the bling only when you want to, and I think thats pretty cool... Supposedly uses all the factory hinge points & mounts for every vehicle they make kits for, so it's easy to return to stock if necessary, and because nothing is really modified except the actual hinge itself, your safety is not in question because someone welded wrong, or what-have-you.

Please everybody, do no longer post images of MINIS with stripes, as that is nothing new.

Happy motoring

Ugh!! I think the wheels belong on a pickup truck. Heavy chrome plated boat anchors.

Still seems frightfully hard to get in the car....and isn't that what doors are all about? Certain extreme mods that serve no real practical purpose other than that they "look cool" are fine on show cars, I suppose, but seem just obnoxious otherwise.

Hmmm

For enthusiasts of a car which is known for celebrating individuality there are a few NAMers who sure get worked up over this stuff in some OTHER threads. Now I agree these sometimes heated threads are almost always the result of the victim asking for it. But. One can say one doesn't like it and why, without saying the person is wrong and doing a bad thing or going overboard.

If you like it and it isn't unsafe then DO IT. I was HUGELY disappointed that the cars at the Dragon were ,with a handful of noteable exceptions pretty plain. Not disappointed in the event I loved it and it's the most important thing on my calendar for next year. The roads, people, and socials were fantastic.

Lambo doors, BMW / MINI hybrid badges, whatever floats your boat.

I'd much rather walk a line of 20 MINIs with all sorts of mods of which I only like 5 than walk a line of 20 stock MINIs. Which is more interesting?

Lifes too short to be boring or worry about whether you're getting to close to 'rice' or some other deragotory term.

OK, but NO Driving around in primer that's over the line.

Yes, I painted my stock calipers red! I admit it! Sue me, get over it! I did it because with a red car, and loud red interior it just makes me happy. I'll happily admit they're stock!

To the question at hand. I think lambo doors on my red cabrio would be funny as heck, in a good way. Don't know if I have the bu**ocks to do it... Funny is healthly. Laugh a little folks you'll feel a lot better.

How about actual GULL WING doors? That'd be a bit more pricey, and yes on a hardtop not my cabrio...

Rumor has it that he was on MTV's "Pimp my ride".
All joking aside, I think it is great that people express themselves.
Cheers,

Thanks for posting. I had not seen this configuration before. Interesting prospect. Getting in may be more difficult, but maybe getting out would be easier? I can't wait to compare this to the gullwing version. Perhaps one for each side, but which would be more suitable to the passenger? Hmm.

Blech! But more power to anyone doing their own thing. I just don't have to like it!

Thats the name of the game folks........driving a Mini is being an individual. I am not one for "bling" but some of the greatest cars had doors that opened differently.......Lambo's......300sl Gullwing.......even the New McClaren SLR......oh who can forget the Delorean . I think the doors are trick.

I can't explain exactly why, but I like it. Wheels and all. Everything seems to work together, as opposed to the vast majority of heavily modified cars, which, to me, look like someone put 200 different unrelated mods into a hat, and then picked 20 at random.

Thanks, I stand corrected. It is better to better to put one's foot in one's mouth when among (NAM) friends .

I still need to check out the original one -

One can pursue novelties all they want but I really like the existing doors on MINIs just as they are. They open so freakishly wide...awesome for both for looks and function....and are also very proper to the Mini brand.

God knows the classics were tricked out every way imaginable. Once the novelty wears off, however, I'm afraid most of these things wind up just being bizarre, one-off anomalies.

I'm also afraid the aftermarket industry is just so intensely developed now that they'll try just about anything...good or bad...to get attention and sell their stuff. Good luck. Some are great...some are atrocious....some are up for legitimate debate. The best offerings, in my opinion, are the one's that demonstrate, and are consistent with, the car's essential character, and there have been some great examples of this around, too. Either way, it gives us something to talk about, so no biggie.

And people (nobody here on NAM...this is a larger observation) want so desperately to be different....to stand out from the crowd. Hel-lo....if you want to be different go visit an elderly person, volunteer at a charity, read a book to a child, or write music. Don't just take it out on your poor MINI!!!
