Cooper Tires

Am currently in dire need of tires for my daily driver 02 Mini (25,000 mi. - nail in rt front sidewall).
Mini calls for 175-65 r15 BUT there are NONE ANYWHERE! They are on national back order from Continental.
Has anyone used Yokohama's AVID H4s 195 60 tire?
They review well but how are the on a Mini? Any and all suggestions appreciated

Thanks
Scott

By "call Alex" he means call Tire Rack, whose banner ad should be at the top of this page. If not, click on Vendor Directory over on the left, and you'll find them there. I've personally never used them, but I've heard nothing but positive reviews from folks here. There may even be a NAM discount (?).

Let us know what you decide on!

Now that I'm on my third post and know who "Alex" is ......

I have been dealing with my local Tire Rack guy Mike at Sports & Imports in Ches. Va. and am going for the Yokohamas (rated 1st in class), they seem sooooo cheap, but cannot be worse than the Conti Touring Contact stock tires.

New rubber everywhere w/ hazzard for around $250?
I am thrilled to find this forum !!!!!!!

I'll be back,
Scott

AVID H4s for MINI

Howdy,

I use these tires on my-91 300zx and love them. They have lasted twice as long as the Continentials I had before. I won't use any other tire. (Especially after going through 7 sets on my'02 SVt Focus in 60k miles)

Also another benefit is they are prices very reasonably.

Cheers, Anteken

Scott,
When you have a tire question for the MINI you can certainly give Alex@tirerack.com a call and he will give you your options for what fits and what works.

For the MC using Continental 175/65-15 (Grand Touring all season) tires, you can replace them with -
http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=EZ3&url=/tires/tires.jsp&tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ContiTour ingContact+CH95&partnum=765HR5CH95&vehicleSearch=f alse&fromCompare1=yes&place=1
The tirerack site shows low stock- not sure if they are out or not- talk to Alex
At $55 each they are pretty good daily use tires. 360 tread wear, A traction, 24.4" tire diameter, 16 pounds each.

Alternatively in 195/55-15 tirerack has Avon Tech M500 in stock for $76 each (ultra High Performance Summer tire) 280 tread wear, AA traction, 23.4" tire diameter
http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=EZ3&url=/tires/tires.jsp&tireMake=Avon&tireModel=Tech+M500
This tire fits well and gives much better performance than the narrow 175/65-15 tires.
They are not for snow. 20 pounds each

If you consider 205/55-15 tires then at tirerack-
http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=EZ3&url=/tires/Compare1.jsp&width=205%2F&ratio=55&diameter=15&sta rtIndex=0&search=true&pagelen=20&pagenum=1&pagemar k=1&RunFlat=All&x=40&y=9
You can find quite a few tires for about $80 each or less.
Kumho Ecsta SPT and ASX
Yokohama AVS ES100 and Avid V4S
Coninental ContiExtreme Contact
BF Goodrich Traction T/A V

The Yokohama Avid V4S (high perf All season) is highly rated, $76 each in 205/55-15, has 500 tread rating, AA traction, 24" tire diameter. In stock!
http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=EZ3&url=/tires/tires.jsp&tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Avid+V4S&veh icleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&partnum=055VR5V4 S
