R50/53 Auto unlock after engine is turned off
Auto unlock after engine is turned off
Can somebody show me in the 2005 MCS manual where it says you have the programmable memory option of the car unlocking when the engine is turned off? The dealer claims that isn't available but I think it is. My 2003 MCS had that feature and I did see it in other threads that that feature is available. I hate it when you have to educate the dealer about the cars they sell.
Thanks much.

2005 MCS auto chilired/white with Sports pkg. BRAND NEW!
BTW it's also at the dealer because the airbag and seat belt lights went on. Hopefully they'll fix it the first time.
Thanks much.

I don't know if it's in the manual, but I got my new 2005 MCS programmed when I picked up the car on July 2nd. The dealer knew about it so it wasn't a problem. Sad that a dealer doesn't know much about what they are selling.

Well I did give the list to my dealer before delivery and everything was opposite what I specified! The DRL's were active and I wanted those non-active and so on. I've read reports that this feature is available but I need proof, solid BMW documentation that this is offered. THanks for your support though. I know I am not crazy when I insisted on this feature. Does someone have the manual page and paragraph? My manual is in the car (at the dealer).
Most of the programble features are not listed in the manual, since you can't do it. If the dealer doesn't have the list of features, that is really lame.

It should be available and programmable in the same way as the '03s. While there is a way for the dealer to generate a list of options, most just have a preprinted generic list like this one: http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...faq_faq_memory
Here is a link to the official email that is SUPPOSED to come from your MA or MINIUSA to ask what options you want:

I hope this helps. I'm glad I don't go to the same dealership you do. Sounds like they definitely don't have their act together...

Thanks Donna! the dealer is South Bay Mini and they've only started selling Mini's the beginning of the year. They have been very good otherwise. Trying very hard to please. The BMW advisor was admitting she was unfamiliar with MINI's. (I was thinking why is that?) My car was sold at MSRP and no pressure with accessories and delivery was earlier than promised.
Correction: they've been selling minis longer than that...so I don't know then
Their present location is new.

I have an 05' MCS and when I went in for service my service rep asked if I wanted certain options changed and I got that option for the door locks activated then. There were several options I was unaware of though.
Before I took delivery of my MCS, my dealer actually gave me the programming customization worksheets so that they could program the car's features to my liking before I even picked it up. I scanned them in and posted them https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...8&postcount=16. A shame that not ever dealer hands them out pre-delivery.
Hmm Man that really bites the big one. I wanted that option when I got my 05 and the dealer said they were not aware of that option. I wonder If I brought my mini back if they would program that option for me for no charge. Most likely not but I guess it's worth a shot.
I can feel your pain with some of these guys not knowing some of the features. I had the option, don't recall the name, where you would hold the unlock switch in the up position for 5 seconds and the windows and sunroof would open. They lost it during an upgrade and tell me it's not an option. I was up there this past weekend and was told they never heard of it. I asked the salesperson to try his car and he had it and we both told the tech it is possible but it still couldn't be found.
In order for it to work the car has to be running with the car started. Hold the switch up for 5 seconds and it's open air riding after that. Yea I can do it with my key on the way to the car but I enjoyed this feature even more. I just wish I could get it back or at least knew the name of it. Dang dealer.
