New cat, nice price

Hi all, I'm doing the OBX header and found a nice cat....

If you call in person, it's $60 shipped to your door (at least to mine in CA).

Now that the OBX headers are back on e-bay, I'm tempted to take try this out. Matt, do you plan to weld this cat to the OBX header? Is there any other way to attach it, so it could be replaced in the future if needed without cutting off the cat? Same for the other side - will you need to cut the OEM flange off the stock header and weld this to the cat to hook up to the exhaust? I'd rather do this without cutting into the stock header if possible. Thanks...

That's the CAT I bought and plan to put flanges on each side, as well as flange the OBX ball flange. That way, if I ever have to replace the CAT, all I have to do is either cut the flanges off the CAT or weld new flanges on the new CAT.

I won't be bolting on the stock system....

So I'll go from the OBX flange welded onto the cat. I'll get an 2.5" flange for the rest, or just weld the exhaust to the cat. since nothing I'll have will be stock, I won't have to preserve the stock distances for the flanges.... not too sure there, but either way, I won't be cutting the stock header. I would only have done that if I'd gone with the Mini cat, cheapest, but not optimal....

Got the cat...

It was waiting on my doorstep when I came home from vacation. Both pleased and miffed. Overall, looks pretty good. But the 2.5" adaptors aren't a true butt-weld, the pipe was slid in a bit and welded, so there is an internal lip. Not a big deal on the input, but a real drag on the output. So it's time to grind away the extra. Total hassle.
But what should I expect for $60! I can't really take a photo of the problem, but maybe it will be clear after I do my hacking....
There's also the possibility of trimming some of the lip off of the case. I'll do some measuring to see if it's needed at all...
