It was +2deg F. this morning and has been below freezing and will remain so for the forseeable future. It is annoying to touch the the shift **** without gloves. The car heats up way before the ****.

So I'm a baby. I want a comfortable shift ****, summer and winter. From what I gather, others are thinking the same thing. I have seen other ***** for sale.

What are some of your favorites and why? Who sells it?

I forgot to ask. Do the carbon fiber ***** I have seen insulate the same or better than leather or wood for hot and cold extremes? I like the looks of some of the carbon fiber models from MOMO but want comfort too.

I always like the feel of an all leather shift ****....
but....
I'm not willing to give up this stock MCS shift **** yet.

Peace,
D

you ought to try touching the **** when it's 110 outside all day...lol!..that plus the mesh screen on the sunroof is useless for blocking heat....last summer I had to resort to a small cloth over the **** and sun blocks between the sun window and screen....sun blocks worked great, but like putting a sun shield in the window, a hassle...wish the mesh screen would have been solid instead of mesh....guess bimmer didn't test the minis in Arizona...of course I lived in Chicago for 20 years and I can imagine what the **** must feel like at 10 below, laugh!

The coldness of the **** always gets me going in the morning. If you stroke the top as you move it back and forth you'll find it warms up very fast.

yea, it would be nice to have a leather ****, with illuminated shift-pattern

I agree the metal is too cold in winter, too hot in summer. A carbon fiber **** would be great, since it has low thermal inertia.

In cold weather, you need Wood! I used to replace all mine with an AMCO wood **** .... they are not available now but even if you have to go with MOMO, wood feels great.

You mean to tell me no one else here got the silver and black MINI gloves? They are so nice and soft, no cold shifter for me, I'm so used to driving with them on, the steering wheel feels strange to my bare hands. I do wish a heated wheel was part of the cold package. I used to love winter, but now that I have this car, I can't wait for spring/summer/fall to motor with the sunroof open.

I'm with X2Board. The stock **** is too cool to get rid of. Nothing like a nice pair of driving gloves for winter. I didn't know there were MINI ones! I have yet to experience the summer heat on the shift ****, having just gotten my car in October.

Rick Hesel does that exact thing with his line of S2000 accessories. Perhaps we can persuade him to start a line of MINI accessories too!

http://www.ricks2k.com/

e-mail Rick and we can get this idea rolling!

I wanted to get the Alta short shifter so I could throw a nice big black chrome ball on top. Now that I think about it, that would be awfully cold in a CT winter.

I just talked to Rick Hesel on the phone, we are starting R&D on a lineup of Rick's Signature Accessories for MINI, starting with a leather shift **** sock (possibly in the shape of a soccer ball ) and sunvisor covers in leather.

We are both excited to bring you quality accessories for your MINI

Cheers,
Ryan
