Passenger seatbelt alarm

I suspect that I already know the answer to this, but is it possible to have the dealer disable the feature of the '05 Coopers that causes a beeping alarm to continually go off if a substantial inanimate weight (>20 pounds?) is placed on the passenger seat while driving? In my '03 MC I was accustomed to putting my laundry on the passenger seat without buckling it in. Just another annoying feature of the '05s that makes me wish that the legal profession was less populous and influential.

I just buckle it in, easy enough. As you suspect, I doubt there is a way for the dealer to disable it without exposing themselves to potential legal grief.

You should be thankful that MINI cares about the safety of your clothes.
