Charleston, SC Chapter
Eric according to the Contact page on M2C2 there is no one for Charleston. Thats why I end up driving every where for events.
There is a BMC group meeting in Myrte Beach next month at the winery 8-13-05.

Eric,
Trust me we know that there isn't a Chapter established down in Chuck-town. We have had a few people express interest in getting one going, but no one has stepped up to the plate and wanted to be a Regional VP.
I'm sure all of the club members would welcome someone taking the lead and setting up a Chapter down on the coast. I know I'd love to motor to the water for a little MINI bonding

If we have anyone interested in starting a chapter the club would be glad to help you get up and running.

Art,
Maybe the person who originally started this thread, 2stroke, would be willing to work with you to get something going down there. We are trying to get a chapter started here in the Hickory, NC area and I know how much work is involved. If I can help you guys in terms of what we are doing here to generate interest, plan events, etc., let me know.
I think it would be beneficial for you to come up for the annual meeting in either late August or September if this is something you're interested in doing. This would give you a chance to meet and network with the folks who could be most helpful to you if you decide to take this on.

Sorry to have neglected answering this sooner. My internet connection up north wasn't working too great.
2stoke, welcome! As has been pointed out, we'd love to get a chapter going in Charleston. If you'd like to try and start one (or know someone else), I'd like to offer our full support in helping you however we can.
Some of us have talked about it in the past and have come up with a few possible ideas for events in your area. It's just almost impossible to organize something from a distance. Someone needs to be on the spot, so to speak. On the same note, let me say that a lack of an organized chapter doesn't stop activities in the area. If you'd like to put something together it'd be great!

On October 21st at Marion Square there will be a British car show event. Last year it was held at Patriots Point and there was only one new MINI there--mine. Let's load the show up this year with new ones
I'll keep my eye on the event and post more later. There's tons to do in Charleston. I think the city would make for a great M2C2 get together.
Cheers,
Debi

I need to correct myself--it's the 30th of October. It appears to be their 21st show. I took 1st place last year simply because there were no other new MINIs.
It was a beautiful show last year with Patriots Point as their back drop and a wonderful showing of early British engineering. It is held by the British Car Club of Charleston. Last year I sent them a message and new MINIs were indeed allowed. It would be great to see a number of new MINIs this year.
If there's an interest, I'll certainly contact the Charleston group just to make sure that they don't have a problem with us attending. I sold my MINI a few months back and most likely I won't have my new one by this date.

I will see if I can spread the word at Mini Of Charleston, but right now I'm not in a position to be "president" of the Charleston chapter. I will definately give my full support as best as I can.
2stroke and Aquasar,
I have this idea. What do you think of this as a possible plan. I suggest you get with MINI of Charleston to plan some kind of of very informal Meet-n-Greet on say a Saturday morning. You can tell them that Century in Greenville and Hendricks in Charlotte are already doing this with the club and strongly support M2C2. Just have some donuts/sweet roles and coffee. Get some other MINI owners there (with the dealership's help) and talk about some things you'd like to do or see done. Then, depending on what DebiW. finds out about the British Car Show on Oct. 30, plan that as your first event. This would generate a lot of interest and excitement right off the bat. I'm sure that there would likely be some folks from up this way (in NC) that might want to come down for that also. I'm always up for a trip to Charleston in the fall and I believe some others might as well. You'll find that if you plan something, they will (usually) come.
The only possible conflict I see with this idea is that I believe the Hilton Head Concours is the next weekend and folks participating in that may not want to make those 2 long trips in back-to-back weekends. But who knows.
This is just a suggestion on how you can get something going down there with a possible built-in event already planned for you. If you guys need help or have questions, folks in the other regions will be more than glad to help in any way we can.

Thats a good idea. It would be best if someone in Charleston took the lead since since I am 100 miles from there. There are several people who could help just need to get them involved and then send them in to talk to either Brad or Martha.

I know Martha and I will try to talk to her by the end of next week and see what we can organize. I'll try to keep everyone posted and see if I can possibly get some help locally as well. I hope to make it to the British Car show as well. All of the people down at Mini of Charleston are extremely helpful. Thank you for all of the help so far and appreciate the support!

You are right Martha is a great person and a MINI owner. I know she will be glad to help you.
She tried hard to help M2C2 get up and running in Charleston when the club was first formed. We were unable to find any local MINI owners at the time that wanted to get involved.
Martha even joined M2C2 the first year. Please tell her George said hello.
Thanks
