Mini after dark....

Took my first night time adventure in the MCS... What an experience!
First off the Xenon lights are frickin awesome. Its like daytime... I did not find the light pattern to be cut off... It was very bright, wide and deep... The fogs work well too... but the Xenons are more than enough...
The interior lighting is very cool. Everything is easy to read and stands out..
The accent lights from above light up the cup holder and bottom shelf just enough to be usseful without distracting.
The little light in the door handle not only looks cool, but shows all the details that went into the car....
A very nice place to be after dark...... nice job mini!

Yeah the interior at night is very cool. I've had a coule people ask me what the orange lights in the roof are for, and I just say "mood lighting"

When you guys do get your mini's check out the

light show you can do at night testing all the interior lights.... Yellow, red, blue, green led's flash and cycle thru and the rpm goes all the way to redline and back while the tach display and speedo display cycle thru all possible led's .... It is quite awsome..

check out the mini2.com frequently asked question section for details on how to get into the test mode.

The fogs work very well also

I love Xenon, the rest feel like candles

I think the fogs would be cool in yellow

Yes... I forgot to mention those.... They light up the ground so you know what you are stepping onto... Very nice feature...

The interior at night is an event that must be seen!

Mines a 03' and it does light up pretty well, but in the forest it's still
not enough at night.... so wired up the Piaa540's.. Brightness!

It's great to ****-off slowpoke SUV's ahead of you too.
wait, don't do that.

Those nice '05 interior lighting improvements nearly drove me over the edge...almost traded in my '03 Cooper because of them (...and a few other things)! In the end, I couldn't do it. I'm enjoying the minimalist approach though, so no problem. I often wonder what vehicles behind me (or beside me for that matter) think of that big orange speedo!! I love how the interior lights dim!

agreed

I gotta agree. I took my first night ride last night as well.
It was awesome. The Xenons work better than I expected.
The interior lights were a pleasant surprise.
I like how the door handle is lit up.
The dimmer switch is kind of weird.

For those of you wanting pics, I did just go out to the garage and attemtped a few, but they came out horrible. (couldn't hold it steady enough for a dark shot). I may try again later.

Now I just need to fill in that black hole where I should have put a rear fog light. I want it to be multifunctional (back up light/brake light/fog light)

I love the looks people give when you go out in the parking lot at night and crank up and the xenons do that leveling trick....last night at Wally World about a dozen people did a double-take

cool stuff

Some of my favorite nite time features are:
  • of course the cool Xenon leveling trick
  • that the interior dome lamps come on when you hit the UNLOCK button on they key remote (with a fade in...and fade out)
  • the "follow home" feature that let's me see the way to my door when my garage is dark because I've stayed in the car too long after I got home
  • that the cubby in front of the shifter is lit up (just slightly)
  • that the door handles are lit up (just slightly)
