Dealer accessory / real price options / questions

Newbie car person here.

I have been building my “own” mini on miniusa for a bit. (I can’t actually buy/lease one until mid 2006). But being my first “new” car I am totally lost. I’m on a budget. When I build mine and add the accessories I want it comes to a price I can make. But it says those prices vary by dealer (for the accessories). Can you guys share with me the actual costs?

-Driving lamps ($400 website/dealer) - REAL price w/dealer install??

-Chrome sport exhaust tip ($30 website/dealer) REAL price w/dealer install??

-Checkered flag OR Union Jack mirror caps ($118 website/dealer) REAL price w/dealer install??

-Roof graphic ($180 website/dealer) REAL price w/dealer install??

-I noticed on other threads (for example) that the anti-theft device listed for like, um, $295 but they were charged $695-$895 after dealer install. (which made me realize I am going to get my anti-theft device elsewhere)

-shift **** in body color ($90 website/dealer) REAL price w/dealer install??

-4 valve stem caps ($16 website/dealer) REAL price w/dealer install??

-outdoor mini cover ($197 website/dealer) REAL price w/dealer??

-Union Jack Chrome frame ($40) REAL price w/dealer??

-boot stripes??? (not an option on mc??? Am I missing something?)

I will be looking in So. Cal (probably south bay mini or LB mini in 2006). Do I order myself or go see them first? (I am looking to finance separately as it seems like a better deal. I have good credit)

thanks for your help.

I will answer with what I know - Best bet is to ask your MA to be sure.
Driving lamps are about 790 installed here.
Chrome sport tip - 50 installed
anti-theft 750 installed
4 valve stem caps ($16 website/dealer) You can install for free
-outdoor mini cover ($197 website/dealer) real price you put it on
-Union Jack Chrome frame ($40) REAL price you put it on
-boot stripes - not an option - I bought from Mike at aesthetic creations for 40 dollars and paid a local tint shop 25 bucks to install http://www.aestheticreations.net/Bon...%20Stripes.htm

pearface -

Time to do some legwork, my friend!

Any MINI dealer can provide and install any of the parts you have referenced. So, get out that dialing finger and start calling around; you've got the time, right?

Might I also suggest that there are some items on your list that are very easy to install by yourself: exhaust tip, mirror caps, shift **** and (my god, man!) valve stem caps. If you can tackle the easy jobs, you can save yourself the cost of labor at $100/hr (minimums apply!) and be able to source your parts from the dealer OR aftermarket OEM parts retailers.

Also, a $90 body-colored shift **** LOOKS nice but if you want a **** that FEELS and PERFORMS nicely, spend the extra few bucks and buy one of Doug Whalen's Shift Machines...you'll wonder how his product can make so much of a difference.

Accessories like these can always be added later. Take the time to do the research on these parts (especially the alarm) and then decide. Don't just heave you cash at the dealer 'cause it's convenient!

FWIW,

Theo

You can get all accessories for 20% off at Classic. Your stealer probably won't like it, but it should save some $$.
The alarm is pretty easy to install if you can tell the pointy side of a screwdriver from the non-pointy side. That'll save you a few hundred right there. Do have to pay the dealer to activate it though.
