Actually, those doors may be the answer for the folks up north that have problems with so called frozen doors that are hard to open.
I had to replace my driver side window motor when it went out, but heck if I would have that car I could have just raised the door at my local drive in, made my order and been on my way

I actually was considering this. I did some research and found out you do not want to use a cheap universal bolt-on kit like Decah. The hinges snap right off in everyday use. I ordered a set of hinges from GT Factory which are welded on to the frame of the car, and swing out a bit further so
you don't need to twist your back out of shape getting in and out of your car. These are "guaranteed to fit any car except a VW ". Well - I must admit that they were certainly a sturdy, quality set of hinges. But they now had to modify their ad to read "Guaranteed to fit any car except a VW and a MINI". Yep - too big (unless you wanted to remove your hood hinges).
There is a kit made specifically for a MINI by a company in UK:

Expensive, and I didn't want to mess around with the shipping, etc especially if I didn't like them and had to return them.
There is a good set of "how to" pictures on the site.
