I was just looking through some pics of the Mini's center speedo and I noticed that in some, the high-beam indicator is at the top of the speedo next to the 70mph marker. In other pics, the indicator is not there.

I looked at the pdf of the 05 owner's manual and there is no indicator in the speedo, but instead it looks to be mounted in the tach. What's the deal; was this a mid-cycle change? Maybe different in another region?

I think that you may have looked at pics of a speedo in Europe. I believe on their speedo the high beam indicator is near 70 k/m.

 

Or maybe Canada? I have an 04 and its in the same place as yours.

 

Euro/Canada spec MINIs with Km/h as the main scale have the high beam indicator on top of the "70" number.


USA spec cars, do not have this. The high beam light is located in the Tach.

I don't know the reasoning for this.

 

in the center speedo, there are 7 indicator lights across the top...but really only six as the left most one is a blank one...does anyone know if that ever is used for anything?

Also in the center speedo but towards the lower part, there is another blank indicator space that is smaller, about half the diameter of all the other indicator spaces...is that ever used for anything?
