Does anybody know of any carbon fiber body parts that are comming out for the MCS. I have seen a website that is going to release a carbon fiber bonnet scoop. I just think an MCS decked out in complete carbon fiber would look awesome. Just imagine the wieght you would save as well.

Isn't it illegal to rice out a Mini Cooper S?

The weight savings are great and all, but the aftermarket doesn't do very good jobs on thier hoods and fenders. If you plan to actually AutoX or track race the MCS cool, but for just show, STOP IT with the ricing techniques!

I am not talking about doing the whole body, that would be nice though. I am talking about carbon fiber accent pieces, such as the bonnet scoop, or maybe even the rear spoiler. I can see how a hood would be hard to make considering the head lights are there.

I do not remember where, but I saw a carbon fiber hood scoop on one of the retail sites. Sorry I do not remember where. I would check the top 5 places, it had to be one of those.

Thanks. I don't know about you guys, but carbon fiber is does a better job at accenting than chrome does. Thanks for the link.

Check that carbon fiber junk. You will find most of it is "carbon fiber LOOK". In other words fake, and probably heavier than the plastic piece it replaces.
I agree, don't rice out your MINI.

Ok Ok! no need to shout. If you're worried about weight savings, changing parts like the bonnet scoop and rear spoiler are not going to be effective places to do it. Start with a set of light wheels and tires, then strip your interior. After that you can start modifying the structure with aluminum or CF panels. If you like to throw on carbon fiber bits for style, you'll get flamed, and you should expect it. Mod your car for effectiveness, and you'll get respect.

Primed plastic is riced out!! Carbon fiber is tech as hell! My Ducati 996S is evidence of this.

Where people get off with saying carbon fiber is ricing i'm not quite sure...the mclaren f1 car is made from CF...so is this the worlds most expensive ricemobile? Sure the look alike stuff is crap - i agree. MINI-Madness is working with a racing team on developing Carbon Fiber Bonnets, Boot, Doors etc...I plan on getting alot of this...but it will be painted...i'm looking for the weight savings.

People have different ideas of what a car is to them, let them express it. I don't like huge stereos and large subs in my own car, but I love seeing other people create sweet setups.

I'm 99% positive it was the guys at Diamond Racing that had the carbon intake. I have not doubled checked, but it's worth a look. As for CF -if it's the real thing it looks kick-**** at night. There have only been a few cases where I've seen it reduce weight enough that is justifys the cost. Most of the Civic's that have it done do it for pure looks. I guess they have money to burn b/c I can think of some much better ways to blow $700 than spending it on a hood.

Carbon fiber is a good thing. It looks nice when done right. I have some on my Ducati as well. Infact a lot of race teams use the hell out of carbon fiber. Just becareful because you get what you pay for. I have seen some carbon fiber that looks stunning and some that looks like frumpkin fiber. You will know the cheap stuff when you see it. Just don't put a big wing and LED windshild sprayers on it. Oh and the huge exhaust.

True Carbon Fiber adds strength in flex and lessens weight...

NOW... remember, most aftermarket carbon fiber is one layer (exterior layer) of Carbon fiber, backed with fiberglass matt or even chooped glass- which weakens the strength and makes it weighty.

Carbon fiber MUST be Vacuum Bagged or spun to be effective.
Many Rice Wings are Vacuum Bagged

The Mclaren is spun, as are all F1 cars.

There is a lot of engineering involved in producing aftermarket MINI Hoods. A Mini hood would take an expensive mold as opposed to the near flatness of Honda Hoods. With Carbon Fiber you will pay a LOT.

I know someone who is toying with Kevlar, for his MINI WIDE-BODY Conversion Kit, stronger and more flexible than Carbon Fiber. It is VERY EXPENSIVE technology to even dabble in.

And as far as it being Ricey - It's not
It was adopted by the Rice Generation only becuase it was effective, then it bleed out to the street tuners and wannabe Honda Sponsored Ghetto Alley Racers. (Powered By Honda) Their aftermarket genre saw the potential in Faux Carbon Fiber and it worked to their advantage.....

Now I'm Rambling

I'm Pro Composite Materials

Yes, but the McLaren, like all cf supercars, is painted, not saying look at me - I'm cf.
Enough of the arguing though... like "acepinhunter" says everyone is entitled to an opinion, but next time I'll try not to join in on the attack of other MC lovers so quickly.
You want cf... whatever makes ou happy.

I like the look of CF in small detail...hood scoop would look cool etc...but I don't like the CF hoods that go unpainted....personal taste. When/If i buy CF body panels for my S they will be painted to match the car.

a Carbon Fiber npainted hood could look really nice on the Mini if done right. Meaning a color scheme that compliments the carbon Fiber....

Carbon fiber bonnet with stripes on it could give a really nice look of Depth, so long as it all complimented one another.

For Carbon Stealth, painting over it is good and sneaky! ZOOOOOOOM!
