good bye.

after a lot of soul searching I bid this site a fond farewell. I joined when it was still MCO and I've gotten a ton of information and support here, but I find I'm leaving each and every visit more and more empty. Having threads deleted for no other reason than I didn't agree with a moderator, plus the growing trend away from the technical to the cute, I find I just don't seem to have anything in common with what's going on here. So to you all who have helped and nurture me, thank you.I can't help but think that feeling the way I do, the site will be better off without me. I'm registered on other MINI sites under the same screen name , so I CAN be reached (if you want to rent a pulley removal tool or something, hint hint) . adieu, Jock

Does this mean you'll be changing your handle to 'Lettingoofit'? Motor on, whereever it may be!

Sorry to see ya go, but I can understand perfectly your feelings regarding how the site has changed and your dissatisfaction with it. Can't say I like what's going on either. It's been keeping me from participating like I used to.

Cheers and lots of safe motoring!

-Phil

holdenontoit, I do respect your decision, but maybe this can be farewell and not goodby. Please stop back when you just feel the need to chill now and again. NAM's mission within MINIdom is unique....true.....and I do feel for those members who really want to pursue technical matters intently. There is a lot of "noise" here from that perspective. Perhaps the purposes of these other web sites you mention will in time tighten to really embrace the areas of your interest. After our warranties run out, we'll probably all be clamoring for that kind of information. As an early owner, perhaps you are seeing a future evolution that has yet to transpire fully. Certainly classic Mini owners have always had a WHOLE different set of issues than us brand new MINI owners.

It is the blessing of the MINI, imo, that it captivates such a broad range of enthusiasts. Amazing....and I'm all for it. However, some will want/need to narrow their scope, even if only for awhile, and I'm in full support of that, too.

As for me, I'll be staying in OT and MINI Talk. That's the only place I feel qualitied to say much (...and even that's a stretch sometimes). Happy motoring!!

PS.....Let us know if you find out anything that's going on "out there." Crossing between multiple sites is a good thing for us all.
