WTB: Used JCW MCS

Hey folks.

Well, my '04 MCS was just totaled out from a crash (was stolen--long story).

I'm now in the market for a good, used JCW MCS. Anyone know of one floating around?

Thanks.

Zack

JCW verification

What's the best way to verify that a JCW kit is authentic, and was installed at a dealer?

Thanks everyone.

Talking out of my ***, the JCW should have a serial number, which you should be able to check in the MINI dealer maintenance database for installation on the car.

Short of that, you'd hope they'd be **** enough to keep the install paperwork.

There is a certificate of authenticity that comes with the JCW kit. The serial number on the cert matches the S/N on the JCW sticker that goes over the "MINI" label on the valve cover and the VIN is on the cert. The installing dealer (mechanic) signs and dates the install cert, too.

Eric is also right as the VIN should be entered in the MINI maintenance data base so any dealer can tell to service it to JCW requirements. This info is used to validate which software updates to install.

I think my old GBMINI#2 is still waiting for a new owner, at MINI Peabody

You would know it had the JCW done right, because MoP is the best dealership in USA and because I have step-by-step photos of the install!
