Almost there - color help...

OK, I'm at the final part where I decide to order or not - what color scheme?

I went to the "local*" MINI dealership, and got a good chance to look at HB/W - I just don't think I like it that much, too flashy. I also don't like chrome, but that is another peculiarity...

Soooo, I look at the other "end" of the spectrum - HB/B OR PW/B.

Which one? I don't mind deviating from Blue, it'd give me a good chance to try a different color, and I like the contrast between the fenders and PW. But I need to make a decision now. Does the black make the interior hotter? I do not like PW/PW. I was going to hold out for Space Blue, but am pretty certain (pessimistic, no insider information) it won't be optioned on the MC, and that I will be unable to sell a vehicle in time for winter.

I also am going with the lighter headliner and the antractite dash.

Thanks for any input at this time of decision...

Also, the PW will make it a bit cheaper. I may also drop DSC off to save a bit o' money. I am pretty well acquainted with driving on snow, so don't see any reason to get it, IMHO.

Thanks again!!!!!!

John

*Ha! Close, like an hour away.

I made the 225 mile drive to my dealer in Memphis last Friday to get a few things done to my CR/W 03 MC.

Roadshow MINI had lots of new MINIs in just about every color. My favorite of them all was a PW/B MSC. Very classy looking and just seemed to stand out, but still wasn't flashy. I'd go for that combination and place my order.

PW/B is understated, but still essentially a classic combo.

HB/B is understated w/ more of a street machine attitude.

What vibe do you want your MINI to evoke????

I have PW/B and think it's a classy combination. My seats are cloth (octagon panther black) and I've gotten into my car when it's been sitting in the hot sun all day and while it is hot, I don't think the black roof makes it feel any hotter than a car with a lighter roof. But I'm sure the cloth seats, even though they are black, make a difference on how hot the car feels. I would imagine that the leatherette feels hotter than cloth. And when I put the A/C on high and on recirc, the car cools down very quickly. I also have the lighter headliner and the anthracite dash and love how it looks. By the way, I bought an aftermarket Speedo chrome ring (I bought it from TVA...it's metal, not plastic, and doesn't have flaws on it like the one I ordered and returned from another vendor), and it looks fabulous with the anthracite dash. I think the OEM chrome interior has too much chrome, but just having the Speedo chrome ring makes it stand out beautifully. I'm considering getting rings for the 2 center dash vents as well. Anyway, HB/B is also nice, but I think PW/B is very classy (but I am biased). Good luck with your choice!

In 2002 I ordered my PW/B without seeing one in person, only pictures, and have never regreted it ! As others have said, it is a classic, but when you add tint to the windows it takes on a more aggressive look, and with the black wheel and rocker trim it really highlites the styling, IMHO !

A happy go lucky car. (Should it be CR/W then?)

But seriously, just a daily driver, nice car. I don't want to give people the impression I want to race (ie, no stripes, tinting, decals). I'm kinda boring.

I really didn't think about this aspect.

So, PW/B is classic, and HB/B is sleek? I suppose either will sell easy? Like I said, I'm torn!!! If I had my way, I'd get the orange - but that's convertible only.

Which shows less dirt?

My guess would be that PW/B would show less dirt...ya'd just want to pamper that black roof a bit (sunroof planned?). The darker colors show more dirt (this coming from an IB/W owner ), so I'm thinking HB/B would be in that range. However, either combo would look awesome when cleaned up.

People here have sweat bullets over their color choices....very tough call, and very personal. Best of luck. The more you agonize, the more thrilled you'll be to see YOUR personal MINI for the first time...........so fret away, buddy!!!

CR/W = Playful, look at me, traditional, groovy with the UJ roof flag, racy (Think Montecarlo Rallye)

PW/B = Understated, classic, timeless

I own both.

Yes, premium package (almost added just the sunroof, but decided the other extras were worth it).

By understated - what exactly do you mean? I know what the word means, but, uh, in relationship to the color choice?

Understated = you don't want to call too much attention upon yourself, yet you want to leave a lasting impression on your good taste for those who do.

Pepper White tones down the MINI but it gives it a more elegant aura. It is just different. If you decide on PW/B I highly recommend getting the exterior chrome package (If it is a MCS) otherwise I think it will tend to look a bit dull.

PW is way less common than CR, both but are beautiful and best of all are solid finishes that are $0 unlike the metallic paints that carry a $430 price tag, ouch!

color coices: silver

My buddy said it best - silver looks classy and refined when you want to be classy, and sporty when you want it to look sporty.

And it seriously does NOT show dirt like black or white.

cheers

PW/B is such a clean color combination!

I couldn't have said it any better than C4, PW/B is "understated, classic, timeless." You'll love it! I've had mine for just a couple of weeks. In some light it looks rather white. In others, its creamy. My wife made the observation yesterday when a VW Bug pulled up next to us at a light, that the MINI PW is not as creamy as the Bug version. The Bug has too much yellow in it I think.

A side benefit I think, is that rock hits and dirt will not show up as bad as compared to a CR or HB. But what do I know, I've driven mine for a only a few days and don't own a HB or CR

Regarding the DSC, get it. Spend the money there and not on a metallic

My PW/B:

I liked the same two color combinations and agonized over them when I was choosing my MINI. What finally made me choose HB/B was that I decided I wanted a brightly colored car. In the area I live it seems 90% of cars are some sort of black, or silver, or other muted color and looking at cars waiting at the stoplights can be a monochrome view of the world.

The world needs more brightly colored cars!

I agree, the many different shades of gray, silver, tan, beige, black and white are sometimes very boring. That's one of the reasons I picked CR/W.

Just read that shades of blue are going to be the next "in" colors.

I remember cars from the fifties and sixties when there were many bright colors, some in two-tone and even three-tone combinations. It was different and cheery looking. I loved it.

To be honest, I think any color would look awesome on a MC. The PW definitely stands out in a crowd, especially on a sunny day. My vote is PW/PW .

If I was able to place my order today, that's what I'd get, too. But, I have to wait anyhow, so I want to have a chance to see the new '06 colors up close. I'm intrigued by the royal gray and space blue...especially combined with a silver top. I was not seriously considering pure silver or dark silver, but if the royal grey is as dark as it looks in the mini2 pictures, I might go for it.

Why not just get a body colored roof all PW or HB. They both look great that way...

I would only do the HB/B if you will also be doing black stripes. Otherwise, I would go with PW/B..

And oh yeah, as your lake effect neighbor to the South who is also excellent in the snow, you WILL need the DSC...
