Ok, one of the little tiny things that bugs me is near the top of the windshield; it doesn't quite overlap when the wipers wipe and the result is a drip.

Is this just mine or do you have this too?

Use Rain-X on the windows and the moving air flow will keep it clean.

Rain-X is one of the neatest things since sliced bread. Now they have a windshield squirter fluid with it pre-mixed in that seems to work pretty well.

So do you have that little spot there or are my wipers in need of adjustment?

Rain-X also causes your wipers to rot fast thereby requiring you to use more Rain-X.

I don't get a spot... that I've noticed anyway. As far as RainX I'm not a fan. When I used it in the past it made my wipers drag. I would recommend a good glass polish though (not cleaner)

I'm also not crazy about RainX....your windows have to be absolutley and completely SPOTLESS when you apply it or it basically "traps" the dirt under the coating of RainX. If you think the drip is annoying...the trapped dirt will make you crazy!

Yes, I also get this spot where the one wiper doesn't quite overlap the other and leaves a little schmutz. This doesn't happen every time, however, and can usually be taken care of with one more swipe.

The thing I've been noticing lately is the the passenger side wiper never wants to clean the bottom few inches of the window very well when I squirt the fluid while motoring at highway speeds, thereby resulting in a semi-circle of grimey window in the middle at the bottom. I have to wait until I stop (or slow significantly) before the fluid will get down in the that area.

I haven't tried adjusting the washer fluid nozzle yet because I figure that it won't clean the upper portion as well after I adjust it. I guess I'll fiddle with it and see what happens.

Schmutz...

You said Schmutz... LOL

My Step-Father is an old Jewish guy and he says "Schmutz" all the time when referring to a blemish !

Yep, I get schmutz too.

What you need to watch is the black tar-like stuff that accumulates on the back of the car (esp. on the hwy).

No fix other than windex or a blind eye.

Although I haven't tried it yet, there are some very convincing remarks made around here about the virtues of a clay bar. I suppose that may be the best fix. I've gotten some of that tar-like stuff already and will be getting a clay bar to try it for myself.

If it's 'tar-like" just use No.7 Bug and Tar remover. Usually about a buck at most car shops. Wipe on, wipe off, tar gone. Then just rewax that area. MUCH easier than a claybar.

And yes, I get the "schumtz spot" but it doesn't drip like yours, or at least not enough to make me care.

OK. So, maybe I still don't quite get the clay bar thing? (Please forgive me) Can you give me a prime example of when is a good time to use a clay bar? :???:

Well I don't know if mine has the "schmutz" as it hasn't really rained here for about two years. It was about 80 today! Sorry to all my mini friends back east.

What's worse is that little leaf that gets stuck when your on a 8-hr journey somewhere in rain, then the line is right in your vision!

The leaf comes out at 99MPH. Of course I have only been told this as I would never drive that fast.

Yeah but that's not a problem that's
exclusive to the Mini. At least the Mini can claim the schmutz as its own!

Schmutzig is the German word for dirty. I don't know if there's an actual noun form of the word, or if it's just slang, or if comes from Yiddish rather than German...

I'm having the same trouble--the wiper fluid misses the bottom/passenger side windshield.

The dealer realligned the squirters, but at high speeds it still misses.

Any luck fixing it?

Also, have you noticed an excessive amount of fluid gets blown around the curve of your windshield onto your side windows?

Schmutz is Yiddish, not German. Yiddish being a slang of German and Hebrew; you can see the logial connections of why the words are so similar.

Just your local Yenta.
