clutch slipping on new '05 MCS convertible?

I have a new '05 MCS convertible with less than 2000 miles on it and I can't describe exactly what I am feeling when I drive down the interstate, but it does not feel the same as my '03 MCS did. When I am accelerating if I back off of the gas it almost feels like the clutch is slipping and the engine catches up with it. I don't think it is the clutch slipping but that is the best way I can describe what I am feeling. Basically when I am accelerating (and it does not have to be a hard acceleration) if I back off of the gas a bit there is a slight lurch to the car. I have wondered if it could be a bad motor mount? SUper charger belt slip? Any suggestions? Anyone else have the same experience? Thanks Darryl

I'd say that the 'slipping' feeling you're describing is in the engine control software - a lot of manufacturers don't let the throttle 'chop' quickly; they have the computer ease the throttle off to reduce emissions. One quick way to check is to hold the engine at about 3,000 rpms for a few seconds (in neutral, just rev it) and let off the throttle - the engine shouldn't chop, but should ease off.

As to the lurch, well, I don't know about that one. I wouldn't suspect a bad mount or belt slippage. . .but if it is that noticeable that it bothers you, sounds like a quick reassurance trip to the dealer might be in order.

It seems to me you have an ECU software issue and nothing mechanical in nature.

Take it back to the dealer. That's what the warranty is for.
