2005 MFSW buttons?

I've got a 2005 MCSC (FEB build) with the phone buttons on the steering wheel. What do I need to do to make it work with my bluetooth phone? Is it already equipped or is there a kit I need to purchase?

Thanks
George

My dealer told me that they only work in the UK at the moment, but hope sometime in the future will get it to work here in the US.

So to answer your question, no you can't get it programmed. UNLESS my dealer mis-informed me, but they are very knowlegable, soooooo

Mikey the Mini sells a kit to connect a Parrot B/T handsfree kit to your Headunit and use the MFSW controls. Way cheaper than the Mini option. I'm using his harness for my Sony HCB-300 B/T kit (before Mikey figured out the MFSW kit with the Parrot) and it works great. I plan to upgrade soon, however.

I just installed one of MikeyTheMINI's cradle-type phone kits in my 05 MINI and it's totally awesome. The kit works with the new phone buttons on my MINI's MFSW and it displays caller ID on my factory nav screen. It even allows me to scroll my phone's address book using the MFSW controls while having each contact's name displayed up on the nav screen. I can then choose which contact I wish to call and place the call all from the MFSW (or I can use voice commands to make the call if I prefer). It's absolutely spectacular!

I chose Mikey's cradle-type phone kit over the Parrot Bluetooth version just because it gives the display on the nav screen (or on the radio display if you don't have factory nav). You simply insert your phone into the cradle and control it via the MFSW buttons. Calls are routed through the radio which automatically mutes itself on incoming and outgoing calls. The Parrot Bluetooth kit works just the same except that you don't get the nav/radio display and so you have to use voice commands to make your calls instead (but you get the freedom of not having to place the phone in a cradle).

I'll be doing a small write-up (with photos) of the kit soon.

Supposedly a revised MINI Bluetooth kit that takes advantage of the new buttons is expected to be released sometime around now. However it is an additional kit that needs to be installed and not simply activating a module that is already installed in the car.

Either way you can do much better with an aftermarket kit and save a bundle of money over the MINI kit. I've got a Sony-Ericsson HCB-300 (only one I've been able to find that will pair with multiple phones) and the cable from newministuff.com and it works great, although the new interface with the Parrot kit is definately worth looking in to.

When you're shopping for your kit, check out Dan's Cellular Accesories on e-Bay, I bought two HCB-300's from him, each for about $60 less than I could find them anyplace else. He ships fast too..

Hi All,

Okay, my write-up of Mikey's hands free phone kits that work with the new phone buttons on the MFSW is now online at Motoringfile.com. You can read it here:

See the pics at the end of this link https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...tooth+motorola

I had installed the IHF1000 and it handles up to four phones.
