I paddleshifted my MCSa while in D mode

This morning on my way to work I hit the paddle like to downshift and it did. I was in D mode (drive mode). The car showed that it downshifted to 3rd gear and I went along. After about 2 seconds the car went back to D. I didn't know this was possible.

I just checked the manual via a PDF from motoringfile.com and it doesn't say that this is possible. Anyone else ever experience this?

You can paddle shift in D for passing and stuff like that. It goes back to D after a few seconds. This is what it's supposed to do.

Actually I thought it was in the manual, guess I just read it on the boards a bunch while waiting for my car.

With less than a 1000 miles I'm still adjusting to paddle shifting, but the more I use it, the more I like it.

Some days it seems to have a mind of its own, other days it seems to know what I'm thinking.

With each drive we get to be better friends.

Sounds like adaptive logic/fuzzy logic at work!

When I picked up my MCSCa, my MA told me that hitting one of the paddles when in "D" will shift up or down based on my 'command', but if I am in "SD" and hit a paddle, then I am in full manual mode.
