Cool Blue Comparison?

Can someone save me a trip to Denver this weekend??

My wife is ready to order a new MCSC, and she likes the Cool Blue with the blue top and blue leather interior - it looks great to me on the MINIUSA website, but I can't get a read on the color. It looks different on every monitor I see it on, so I don't really know what it looks like in person.

Short of going to Schomp this weekend to see one in the flesh (metal?), can someone name a color on a more common car (BMW, Honda, etc.) that is the same or close to MINI's Cool Blue, just so I can get an idea of what it might really look like?

Thanks.

Bill

I have the Cool Blue MCSc with a black. The Cool Blue is not like any other coomon color. It has a gold pearl accent in the clear coat, and the car tends to change color in different light. It can look greyish at times. When looking closely down the side you can see the gold pearl. I was going to get Dark Silver but when I saw the Cool Blue in person I changed it on the spot. I am very happy with the choice and everyone states how good the Cool Blue looks.

I had a similar problem

When I was buying my 2004 IB/W MCS, the closest dealership to me was over an hour away. I scoured the internet for all of the Indie Blue MINIs I could fine. I was satisfied with the color after I found shots of it in many different lights.

My next problem was does the Indie Blue exterior look good with the Lapis Blue leather and blue carpeting? I emailed my Motoring Advisor in Charleston and she emailed me some digital shots she took of the combo they had on the lot.

Good luck

It's hard to say what color the Cool Blue looks like since the color changes depending on the lighting conditions. In very bright sunny conditions, the blue is lighter with a slight hint of lavendar. In darker conditions, the blue looks darker with hints of grey.

The color is very nice and compliments the convertible imho.

Thanks for all the replies and photos. . .guess I'll just have to head up to the dealer after all - not that that's a BAD thing. . .

Hope we have good sunny weather Saturday so I can play the Cool Blue angle game. . .

In the sunlight, the Cool Blue definitely looks lavender to me.

Jonoanddee,

Great shots, thanks - and you're right - looks different in almost every shot. Guess I'm gonna have to make the drive to the dealer after all - shucks!

My exact problem when ordering my 2005 HB/W MC with Lapis Blue Leather Seats, Anthracite Interior and Headliner, Chrome Line Interior. Neither local (1 1/2 hour drive) dealer had all the items that I could see in person, so I ordered and agonized during the delivery wait. Will it look good??? The blue carpeting looked hideous on MINIUSA. I wasn't sure I had made the right decision until I took delivery. Absolutely no regrets at all. I love the color combination, both interior and exterior, I chose.

Good luck to you!!! I'm sure you'll do alright with your decisions. The Cool Blue is a great color!!!

I think Cool Blue looks close to the Steel Blue that was available on the E46 3 series. I've never compared the two right next to each other but both seem to be a similar hue that can look blue grey or lavender-y to varying degrees based on the lighting.

Here's a few quick, random photos of some:

Well, went to the dealer this past weekend, checked out the Cool Blue - and I like it. Don't think the black or white bonnet stripes will go, though - my thought is to contact a stripe vendor (already have, as a matter of fact) for some dark blue stripes to match the top, and maybe have the mirror caps painted the same shade.

We liked the Cool Blue so much, in fact, that the wife decided to go with the CB interior as well, instead of the anthracite (which I STILL think looks awesome, too)

So MANY choices to agonize over when buying a new MINI!! A labor of love, but still daunting.
