Are MCS 50 state cars
The MINIs shipped in the US are all the same as far as emissions are concerned. Both of our MINIs came from Florida and it was actually easier to register and get plates for, than from the local dealership.
Out of state purchases may require that you deal directly with the DMV.... upon paying all the fees, they hand you license plates and tags on the spot.
Buying out of state will save you at least $2000 and you will likely get your car months faster. Almost all of the MINI dealerships in CA (with a very few exceptions) still charge large premiums (dealership markups) and the few that don't generally have a 6 month plus waiting list. Some of the out of state dealerships actually have cars sitting on the lot ready to purchase.
Shipping across the country costs little, although many fly to the out of state dealership to drive the car home. I personally prefer the shipping option. Our last car cost only $800 to ship from Florida to Healdsburg and took 4 days to get here.
