Wheels vibrating
Wheels vibrating
Finally bolted my Volk's on
but now this problem arises: from 1-60mph, there's nothing but after that, you can feel the whole car vibrates a little but the steering doesn't. The hubcenter is actually 56.12-56.13mm as machined so it is a fraction out of spec (due to my machinist's fault I suppose...) to ensure it will definitely get onto the car no problems. I thought it may have been the studs weren't tighten enough (but checked it's in fact overtorqued, over the 90lb-ft as recommended by a few here) now it's back to the 88-90lb-ft region. It's still here.
Any ideas what may have been the cause? Also, I've noticed the alignment changes a bit after I've bolted them on..now there's a bit more castor as the car centers itself much more than before and it's doesn't turn in as sharp as it used to be (had 16" and Toyo R1R semi-slicks)
Could it be 1) hubcentric issue 2) alignment is out 3) just these Continental CSC2 suck?
There's no bubbles in the tyres either...I am seriously puzzled by this annoying vibration

Who balanced your wheels ? Because a vibration at that speed must mean someone did not balance them correctly
Ask them if they match balanced them? Ask them if they know what that means:smile:
A match balance is done with a road force machine that finds the heavy spot on the wheel and the low spot on the tire and aligns them together. What this means to you is less weight on the wheels. Thus a better balance and no vibration..
Find a tire wheel shop that can match balance and your issue will be fixed. Also, read thru the tire rack's owners manual that can be found on line it can be very helpful in undertanding this.

I'm not following your post very well...
- The wheels/tires bolted to your car have no effect on caster.
- I can't imagine an alignment has anything to do with it if you didn't have the vibration before changing the wheels.
- The hubcentric ring, or lack thereof would have nothing to do with anything if the lug bolts/studs were installed correctly.
I'm left with the conclusion that a wheel is bent, or out of balance.

JeffS: I am just trying to state as much info as possible to get a better response
thanks for yours and from others.
Ok I'll go balance them then see what happens...it's bugging me big time at the moment.
