R50/53 MINI miles to go
MINI miles to go
Journeying from Classic Auto Campus in the verdant hamlet of Mentor, Ohio, across the vastness of the buffalo fields to California...a transporter and its cargo rumbles apace.
Thanks to Chief Charlie who coordinated with 8 MINI buyers (including himself) and sent these images (by Julie of Classic). Supposedly the transporter has begun the long drive to sunny, leafy, terra cotta tiled Santa Clara.
The photos are supposed to depict the cars awaiting delivery, the cars stuffed into the container, and the big white transporter. What a hoot.

I don't have any major beefs with my MCS's "initial quality", but... If they shipped MY car on its SIDE like that, and I found OUT about it, I'd raise a loud fuss!
(ppssst yes i AM joking - I crack me up)

Amusing observation. Actually the cars are being shipped on their side for a purpose. The transporter will drop them off at the University of Santa Clara campus. The 7 other owners and I will perform a few Italian Job maneuvers for the collegiate audience and we decided it would be easier if we started with the cars on their sides.
rednwhitecooper: No way! Was it also sideways? Did you see my car? I could not find it in the showroom photo. Guess that's because it's PW/B and wouldn't look like much in a color photo--especially when Julie the MA had those flamboyant MINIs hogging the foreground. My subtle MINI just didn't have a chance.

This is the hard part, waiting for it to come here. We ca now count down days. I think in the sideways photo, it is my HB/B MCSa on top.

It will be Austin's 1 yr birthday on Sunday!
Congratulations to all of the lucky guys and gals in this Classic group buy.
I can't believe it will be 1 yr on Sunday when I picked up my MCS at Santa Clara in one of the great Classic group buys expertly organized by “The Chief” and purchased from the MINI goddess Julie Saxa. To celebrate I have a B&M short shift kit that I will be installing this weekend. I have put 18,000 trouble free miles on Austin and love this car more every day.
Mine was sitting in the same spot where the Hyper Blue one is-

We received this email the day before delivery:
Your MINIs are on the move. They just left Grand Island, Nebraska, and
are headed for the Great Salt Lake where they'll rest overnight.
Mike did have one unscheduled stop, having to pull over and break up an
argument between the MINIs. Seems the three BRG's had formed an
alliance against the CR, IB, and PW cars. Mike separated them, and now
all is well; but they did ask if they could "stretch their legs" when
they got to the Bonneville Salt Flats. Mike said he'd think about it.
I'll keep you posted..................sleep tight; just one more day.

All in all this was the most fun you could possibly have buying a car. Surpassed only by owning a MINI.
Once again thanks to Julie, Charlie, Mike and everyone else involved in this group buy for making this a most memorable event.

Lets see if I remember right. The truck left on a Tuesday and arrived on Saturday. Longest 5 days since I was a kid waiting for Santa to come.
But I can't complain, I first I placed my order on March 1st and was driving on May 8th. This was after seeing the advertisement on NAM for the group buy a week earlier. So the total time to get mine was 15 weeks! These group buys Rock.

They're all MCSs because Classic had a special offer on them. 8 for the price of 8. That was a lot better than some of the Bay Area dealerships where you would buy 8 for the price of 9.

Hi Kellzir. We have an approximate unloading time of 5 pm this coming Wednesday (May 11) at University of Santa Clara (or is Santa Claus?). I will post this under NorCal MINIs in case NAM folks nearby want to drop by.

I would love to stop by and congratulate all the new MINI owners and say hi to the Chief.
