WTB: New Style Arm Rest

I'd like a new-style armrest (the type with the storage inside). My '05 MCS convertible was supposed to come with it, but was built just a bit too early.

If any of those who profess to hate armrests happens to have bought a Mini that has one, and doesn't want it, please email me with an asking price. bd at busdepot dot com.

You actually can't buy the "new" official arm rest as a retro fit. You can however purchase the old style or first official arm rest from a seller on ebay. He is located in Germany and will ship it to you (takes about two weeks and the cost with shipping is approximately $230). Here is a link to his current posting:

The below link will also take you to the thread that has information on the arm rest itself. the first posting will link you to Motoring File's review which contains pictures and there are other posts that have links that show the install instructions as well.

it installs under the seat bolts and has storage in the armrest as well. It only comes in panther black letherette. I got mine a few weeks ago and I love it! Hope this helps.

It's my understanding that while you can't buy a retrofit "kit," it is possible to buy the necessary parts to install the new armrest, and that they cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $350. Seems a bit steep for a not-especially-sturdy armrest.
Can anybody verify?

I originally wanted the new version of the official arm rest so I talked to a guy in the parts department from Clasic Mini. He told me it would cost approximately $500 to buy all the parts to install.

I installed my original MINI arm rest this past weekend and it looks great. Took me longer to find the bit for my socket wrench at Home Depot then it did to install it. I actually like the old version better; the storage is better, the hatch comes up instead of sliding back and the support is right under it instead of extending from the back seat area. Just my $0.02.
