JCW tuning kit upgrade

New SCMC member.

I sold my Boxster S last year and purchased MCS JCW. I'm thinking of adding the Tuning kit upgrade to obtain 210 HP. Has anyone done this or have any thoughts?

You should talk to Todd. He has a JCW with a ton of other mods as well. I don't think he reads NAM, but he comes to most SCMC events.

WOW I never thought I'd hear that one! A Boxster S is probably going to be my next purchase - how would you compare the two?

Boxster S vs. MCS JCW

I had a red Boxster S for two years and loved it. However I made the mistake of buying the Triptronic Automatic and at resale time, no one wanted it. I took a big cash loss. Gaudin has a great service department and the local Porsche Club is very active with many track days.

It's easy to compare the stats of the two cars. But, the MCS with the Works is more fun for your dollar.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to find Todd.
I was dissapointed that the service department would charge $318 (3hrs.) to install the $560 kit. The JCW web site says it's a 1 hr. job. At any rate, that seems like a lot of money for 7-10 hp.
So, I if anyone has any ideas to inhance speed, please post.

Devil Dog...

Well I do "boardwatch" every once in a while....

Feel free to e-mail me at todd.schoenke@c-b.com and I'll give you my phone number if you'd like to talk about the JCW package.

Todd

tuning kit

It's my understanding that the JCW tuner kit is the new air box, injectors and software squirt. First off if you are a member of the SCMC you are entitled to a 20% discount at the parts counter. This could save a few $$$ with the purchase of the kit. As far as the 3 hours versus the 1 hour, talk to the service manager and see what he can do. Changing the air box and swapping out the injectors is doable for a highly qualified DIYer but the software squirt will only happen at the dealership. Best of luck.
