Brake question

Are the brakes on a 2005 MC the same as on the MCS. I know the rotors are the same size, I know the braking system (ABS/CBD/EBD) is the same, but are the pads, calipers and master cylinder the same also?

From what I have looked at, yes. All of them are the same with regard to matching, bias and sizing issues. The early rear calipers were of a slightly different design and use an alternate hose. I have not taken the piston out of one but I suspect being a rear the size is the same or very very close.

Thanks for the info, I was just trying to find out if the MCS had "upgraded" brakes, to match the higher performance of the car or if they were the same.

From what I could tell they looked the same to me, but I thought since the MCS was a little heavier, and came stock with bigger (heavier) wheel/tire combination, that the pads/calipers would be a little bigger.

I was told by my service tech, that there were direct replacement high perfomance pads for the MCS but not for the MC. Since it is the same MINI part number for replacement of both, I assumed he did not know what he was talking about.

I have owned a MC and now own an MCS and the brakes are the same on both. I upgraded the brakes on both cars they are same. The only difference from the 2003 to 2005 is that brakes now have wear sensors.
