So, it has been 6 months since Samantha arrived and 13k miles later of motoring all over southeast Michigan, I have seen quite a few MINIs around. Mostly in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Some of the motorers I have gotten the chance to talk to and others i have just exchanged the "MINI-Wave" with.

I had the thought of trying to match some names, faces and personalities with their owners yesterday just after going out of my way to overtake a 03/04 IB/W Cooper on Washtenaw in Ypsi just so i could wave and have a look and see who was driving it.

So, if any of you out there from Ann Arbor or Ypsi want to speak up, I would love to hear from you!

DS/DS MCS at Hill and East University around 4:15 today. Young guy with tatoos was driving... windows down, sunroof open. He looked like he was having fun.. I noticed because I was walking home from class (boooo..)

Neall - off topic. Have you been to the Best Buy over by the Meijer on Ann Arbor-Saline?? I swear I saw the exact same picture as the one in your signature in their camera section. It was just a normal 4x6(ish) photo. I was checking out the D70s and noticed it.

 

yeah thats me, i work there selling digital cameras. You should stop in and chat sometime. I'll be there all night on thursday.

p.s. - you mentioned in an earlier post that you have the miltek exhaust, i'd love to hear it cuz i am considering a new exhaust

 

My wallet says I spend way too much time at Best Buy. Trips there have to be done rarely and be preplanned, or I'll never be able to afford MINI mods.

I'm thrilled with the Miltek. You should come out to a MMMC event some time... you'll definately be able to hear my Miltek and perhaps some other options as well.

No, alas, I am not. As Chad said, MINI is at his house. Audi's aren't very fun on "fun-runs." I'm actually pretty driving-ed out right now... just got back from on overnight trip up north hauling stuff to our new cabin. My butt is numb. Toooo much sitting... I need to go run around.

Are the forums still dead?! I just got home, and I headed here first, so I haven't checked them out. We actually do have a forum here. Perhaps we should implement it in the interim..

edit: back on topic. Sighted an all LY MINI (Cooper or S, not sure, just saw it zoom past) on Packard. I was waiting in my Audi at the intersection of State and Hill and it drove through the Packard/Hill intersection. I assume it was Zak...

 

Gonna miss you today Steph, but you have to look at the big pic, DRAGON. As long as everything is back together by May 5th, all will be well in MINIdom. I am still trying to get D.B. back to 100% after the minor (Not so minor any more) fender bender. The parts are in and just waiting for Monday to get the right lower knuckle, wheel bearing and strut replaced and lined up. Then it has to go back to Larry Millen in Plymouth to have the clear bra and stripes put back on. I also have a new wheel and flat tire sensor waiting to be put on when the other work is done. It still drives fantastic, and I will be trying out the new 15% pulley and H-sport suspension today. And I will be staying in my seat, I love the Schroths.

Any promise from Chad on when yours will be ready? How bout your mom's is she still MINIless too? You must be in withdrawals big time, no MINI, no MMMC. I will say I have a new appreciation of NAM. I have read the entire "Detroit Caravan" thread and actually wish I was going to be a part of it. Donna and I will be at Fontana on Monday 5/2 but will leave Thursday morning and meet you guys somewhere north of Knoxville just to experience a 40+ MINI caravan. I would like to go as far north as the KY/TN border but we will be spending a lot of time on the road and as you put it, Donna's not a big fan of numb butt. It also depends a lot on what else in going on in Fontana, we may decide to do something else on Thursday but I can't imagine what would be more fun the the caravan.

What day was this Yellow Cooper? I won't be driving it for long.. Maybe a little here and there but nothing big.. I need to head over to Rye's so we can Clean his mom's Stealth and My Kitt Vader. Long Day of motoring.

 

Ok this was one of the best sightings that I have had as of yet. I was on 275 s.b. just south of Novi when i noticed a 03/04 CR/W MC up ahead of me. I sped up a little to catch it. I got in fromt of it and we ended up to be going the same way. We both peeled off onto M-14 w.b. and caravaned all the way until I had to hit 23 south where we exchanged three "See ya later" headlight blinks and he continued on down 14. I hope this mysterious MINI owner sees this and I can figure out who it is!


Other Major Sighting - Depot Town in Ypsi - Exact Clone of Samantha (sans 24% tint) parked right out in front of the Sidetrack (perhaps for some Sunday afternoon suds?)

 

Well since I'm tired of waiting to post my Mini Sighting on MMMC, I'll post here.... even though it twasn't in AA/Ypsi

Spotted: All black, tinted Cooper, aero grille, aero kit? Telegraph southbound near 696 on Wednesday night ~10pm. I waved and flashed lights but couldn't see thru his tint to see if he/she waved back I think it was an Air Force license plate.

 

Saw a DS/B on northbound 23 at Washtenaw, mabey on the cloverleaf. No response to a hearty wave. Learned one lesson, don't stick your arm out the window with open hand to wave at 85 MPH. Nuff said.

spotted: CR/B Black Bonnet Stripes MCS on Saturday night in waterford, don't know the road

 

I have never realized how hot black on black looks on an MCS until i spotted one today on Washtenaw at Clark (approx 3:15pm) Also, a very nice, high-spirited MINI-wave was exchanged!

 

I saw an 05 CR/W Cooper w. White bonnet stripes parked at the corner of South U. and East U. around 3:30 this afternoon. Was it Samantha?

 

That's Samatha's twin, actually. I have seen it around the area a few times. I even parked next to it once in the Maynard Street garage. The first time i saw it it made me want to install the aero grill so that I/she wouldn't have a twin any longer. Still thinking about doing that but I'm not sure I want to tackle the install.
As for now, Sam can differentiated from "Pseudo-Sams" by her 24% tint, Apple sticker on the boot glass and N.A.M. sticker on the driver's side backseat window.

 

If Sam has an apple sticker on her boot glass, then you and I have sat next to each other in traffic. Corner of State and Hill I believe. Its a small world.

Jason, my Cooper, is getting an aero grille installed as we speak. I'm not doing the installation... I leave that to Detroit Tuned.

 

I remember the day!!! i think i still had the Ohio temp. tag on her then.

I'm gonna have to get in touch with the D.T. guys and see when they can fit me in. :smile:
