Z-8 Grand Finale

OK... I just received my Zaino refill... I was out of leather conditioner, clay, Z6 and Z2pro and now I get an email about Zaino Z-8 Grand Finale. It appears to be an 'after Z6 detailing spray' for special events. At $20 a bottle, it should be.

Has anyone gotten their hands on some?

It is some awesome super juice! It is more of a milky consistency. You wipe it on, almost "in" like a wax. And polish it until it dries. It's like a QD on steroids. It is slick as sh*t and ultra glossy. It has a decent durability, too. More so than a regular QD. It has almost solved my water spotting problem on my black roof! WOOHOO!

Brad, somehow I knew you would have an advance bottle of this stuff...

I hate paying shipping twice since I just re-stocked my Zaino stash, but I don't think I'll be able to resist! Must... Have... Z-8!

It is pretty cool stuff. It's specially made for fanatics like us.

I was testing it and thought, "ok, this is good, it's slick, it's shiny, it's holding up longer than expected ......and stopped my water spots....SOLD!"

I just received the e-mail from Zaino announcing this new product. Brad must have been one of their "Beta testers" !

Excellent! I had just ordered 2 bottles of Z-6 and 1 bottle of Z-2 PRO on Sunday, then later that night or sometime over the last 2 days I get the email about the Z-8 . Oh well, I'll get some of it next time.

I was lucky and called them back after i just got through placing my order for the Zkit-1. The lady on the phone was super helpful. The idea of a super detail spray for when you need that extra look just rocks. Friday/Saturday night spray!

OK... I got my bottle of Grand Finale last night and ran right out to my car for a test. Here's my testing procedure:

1. I've got 2 fresh coats of Zaino Z2 on... both applied about 3 weeks ago.
2. I used Z6 quick detailing spray and a buffing microfiber to polish up the entire trunk lid (my daily driver '97 Nissan Altima).
3. I sprayed 2 spritzes of Z6 on one side of the trunk lid and buffed.
4. I sprayed 2 spritzes of Grand Finale on the other side and buffed.
5. I drove to work this morning and I'm letting the guys from the office decide...

I'm not sure if anyone will be able to tell the difference. I MIGHT be able to detect a slightly slicker surface, but it might all be in my mind. It might have a bit more of a feeling of 'just waxed', if that makes any sense at all. The paint is the standard Altima metalic tan (probably 50% of the Altimas sold of this make and model were this color). Maybe this stuff would make a darker color pop better.

Overall, I'm not impressed enough to spend $20 for another bottle... I'd rather have 2 bottles of Z6. (I can just hear PeeWee Herman right now... "If you love Z6 so much, why don't you marry it?")

I'll post the blind test results from the guys at the office... we will see if they can figure it out. I'll hit my wife's dark metalic blue SUV this evening to see how that does...

OK... I just took one guy out for the blind test of Grand Finale!

He sat there and looked across the hood for a while and couldn't find any difference in reflection or shine. After a lot of running his fingers back and forth, he correctly identified the 'Grand Finale' side, but he was very unsure. The difference was very, very, VERY slight. He said that it felt 'more freshly waxed... maybe even oily'.

I've got another Zaino enthusiast here... I've got to get him out there now...

Do some durability testing. Compare how long it lasts, stays slick, repels water, beads, stops water spotting, etc.

That's what sold me.

This Zaino stuff is addictive. I started with just a basic kit. Now I want more and more. Can't wait till my bottle of Z8 arrives.

Based on these obsessive/compulsive emotions and behaviors, I'm absolutely terrified to go the the Autopia site. I'm certain I'll find even more stuff I can't live without.

And You... BradB... are no help at all!!! No, really... Thanks!

Hmmmm... Most of their marketing material is focused on "shine, gloss, depth and slickness." I haven't had the chance to do durability testing...

From the ZainoStore.com site:
Z-8 Grand Finale™ Spray Seal offers a unique opportunity to drastically enhance the shine, gloss, depth, slickness and protection of the Zaino system.

Got it! As soon as the weather improves, I'll wash the car and do the Z6-Z8 routine. I'll report my findings soon.

After washing the car and applying Z6, I went over the whole car with a coat of Z8. It's the best the car has ever looked. The paint absolutely looks wet. It made the bonnet stripes glossier, and it did wonders for the black top.

After having already done the full Zaino treatment (clay, Z6, Z5, Z6, Z5, Z6, Z2, Z6, Z2, Z6) I can't tell you that the addition of the Z8 makes a huge difference. I can tell you that IMO it's worth it. It's the finishing touch on an already gorgeous finish. It's an incremental improvement which is exactly what I hoped for.

It also smells great, which is a nice bonus.

I love the smell, as opposed to the cough syrup smell of Z6.

Does anyone know if Z8 totally replaces Z6? As in can I wash, rinse, dry, Z8, Z5, Z8, Z2, Z8, Z2?

z8 does not replace z6 z8 is to be used for special occasions only a few times a year....stuff is good......no doubt about it

My Zaino rep said you could use it either for special occasions or as aZ6 replacement.

Well, my impressions after a week. Well, I have a second bottle of z8 on its way, and am only using Z6 on the white roof/mirrors/wheels (since the white doesnt really seem to have much of a difference).

I replaced used Z8 instead of Z6 on my bonnet and boot during the polishing period (Z5-Z8-Z2-Z8-Z2-Z8) and the difference is noticeable, it was raining pretty much all day monday, and the water beaded up and looked fantastic (only pictures could describe this better). I'm a convert!

Blind comparison:

I took another Zaino addict out to my car after doing the test above a few days earlier. He was able to pick out the Z8 treated side, but only after a good bit of touching and feeling.

We had a good rain here the other day and I stopped to compair the 2 sides, one treated with just Z6 and one with just Z8. I couldn't tell much difference, if any at all, but I've got 4-5 coats of Z2 on there... I can't imagine anything beading any better...

I can't tell any dust difference, either.
I don't know... I'm just not sold. Perhaps I haven't found the right application (as in BradB's water spotting removal). So far, for $20 a bottle, I'd rather have more of my favorite Z6...

Actually it is effective as a water spotting preventative, not remover.

Too bad you're not as pumped as I am about it. Well, you can't go wrong with Z6 either. I just got "another" Z8 yesterday. I'm a glutton. Plus I figured folks would be wasting all my first bottle at my upcoming detailing clinic!
