Avon Tech R in 225/50-16
I think that size would be bad for gearing, and MAJORLY hard to mount.
I helped my friend try to mount my 215/40/16 V710's on my SSR comps saturday, and we got a schooling. NOT fun. However, the taller sidewalls may make things easier than the 40 series kumho.

For Kumho V710s there are not much that will fit 16" rims for the MINI.
215/40-16 ($159) tires fit rims 7 to 8.5" wide weigh 19 pounds and have a small outer tire diameter of 22.6" (good for gearing) but have a lower than recommended load rating of 1047 pounds (ok only for autocross with one person if possible). ($171 each for V710 in 225/50-16)
Kumho Victoracers come in 225/50-16 shaved for $160 ,outer tire diameter 24.5" 25 pounds
Kumho V700 come in
225/50-16 shaved for $153 each, 28 pounds per tire
205/45-16 low load rating of 1074 pounds, 24 pounds per tire, outer tire diameter of 23" (good for gearing) $143 each shaved.
Another option is 215/45-16 Falken Azenis Sport tires- they aren't as good as R compounds but better than street tires and they cost less about $100 each. See edgeracing.com
