Hi Everyone,

I took delivery of my dark silver MCS on Monday but the dealer said the tartan red seat covers I'd ordered hadn't been "released" yet because there is some issue about the compatability of the seat covers with the side airbag system (because its embedded in the seat of the convertible).

Anyone have any new info/insights on when those will be available? I have the leatherette upholstery and it didn't breathe well in my last Mini, so I'm hoping the seat covers will be more comfortable in warm weather and add a splash of color to an otherwise subdued color scheme. Thanks.

Get some Wet Okole's from wetokole.com. I had the tartan red covers and then upgraded!

If you ordered them and they didn't tell you they would not be on the car until delivery , they should retrofit them at no charge for you when they are available...did they offer?

 

Those look really good. But one question. How do the covers accomodate the operation of the side air bags?

 

They have a big a** hole in the side for it to escape!

 

Yes. Their is a cut-out on the outside of the seatback cover. It may be visible in this larger photo:

BTW --

The Wet Okole seatcover is made from neoprene. It is incredibly sturdy and, for you kayakers/surfers, it is waterproof. I bought mine for this reason, so I can get out of the kayak, put it on the roof, and just hop in without changing clothes.

There is a downside, however. Neoprene is a terrific insulator. That means very little heat from heated seats will actually be felt. Since I do not kayak in the winter, I remove the Wet Okoles until spring. Note that they are totally machine washable, too.

I love the seatcovers so much, I just ordered a matching set for the rear seat.

I got a used 2004 MC-S in British Racing Green. It came with the cool Black and tan Cordoba leather, but I am afraid the buttons on my pants will eventually destroy the driver's seat. Since I use this car for work and hardly have passengers, I thought I'd leave the passenger seat for show and cover the driver's seat. Love the OKole's but they only sell them in pairs. Any other seat cover suggestions?
