Carbon Fiber Cowl Intake???

Every cowl intake scoop that I see is made from ABS. Does anybody manufacture this scoop in Carbon Fiber?

I wonder if it has something to do with placing a highly reflective piece directly in front of the driver's field of view (left-hand drive)???

I have had both types of " CF " intake scoops and the one from Ben Fer is the real deal. They do not add any type of clear coat so there is no reflection problem. They are a sponsor on this site.

BFP makes cowl vents?

Randy, I think he is talking about the vents up by the windshield. The little scoops that some people have on their cars. El has a set I believe. I would love to see some made of carbon, I think it would be very nice.

Ahhhhhhh. Ok now i see. So far I have not seen any carbon vents of that type. Ben Fer was going to make a set but ended up using another material. I agree those would look great on some color combinations. I beleive El has the set from Orcari , however the hell you spell it, but he may have changed them .

Very, very cool. Do you know the name and/or have the ordering information for the company in Japan. This has been a good month for business and a reward is in order<g>. Let us know!

That does look like real carbon too, not the photographic overlay (at least to my 40 year old eyes)! Any websites for that?

I have tried on three seperate occasions to contact Bond garage concerning the carbon cowl vents and it has garnered zero responses I think we are out of luck with them. Oh well, I will keep searching.

The hood scoop makes a lot of sense to me considering that the air gets shoved straight into the intercooler (adding an intercooler air diverter to that hood scoop would = one cool engine). However, these items cause a lot more drag (which the Mini already has enough of considering it's upright profile), and I have always wondered if the cowl scoops would be negligible (if not negative) in terms of making a Mini go faster. Does anyone know if the decreased aerodynamics of these scoops are adequately compensated by a significant increase in power?

We have been working on the heat shield for the AGS, which is made of
a composite material. This has taken away resources from the cowl scoops...

No worries compadre, They will be done soon.

Maybe you should just put a product timeline up on your website... not really a "due date", but a priority list of the things you're working on. You seem to be working on so many things, and changing priorities so frequently that you often leave people hanging.

Some companies tend to use this as a strategy - and I'm not saying you are... but people would be happier if they weren't so frequently left waiting for a product that never arrives.

For example, you said you'd have side mirrors ready to sell in a couple of weeks - which was about a year ago now. Apparently you dropped the idea. You didn't, however, go back to the thread where you'd promised them and rescind the offer. Just like you probably wouldn't think to come back to this one and say you've dropped the cowl idea - or made something else a higher priority.

This is meant to be constructive criticism, and I hope it will be taken as such.
