When I see that an individual is looking for something I will often look for them and often find it in short order. I think it is reasonable to a ask for a very small compensation for making the effort that they did not make, or chose not to make. don't you?
With that said, I don't really believe that any one will give me a buck or two to help them out. (especially in our society where tipping for services is less prevalant)
I expected that you would get a bump and a little more visibility.I figured someone would to do exactly as they did and freely post where the item was being sold. Thereby rendering my info of no value. text-book capitalism & supply and demand.

Ever have a wedding ceremony? The limo drivers, valet parking staff (restaurants and hotels), and reception staff ALL GET A HUGE CHUNK OF MONEY from gratuities (usually included in the price for a reception).
I'd say that as a society we 'Murricans do pretty well to tip for services. Heck, I even give homeless folks change and they haven't provided me with any service, other than to make me mindful that my life ain't so bad after all.

Compare this thread to this recent thread here in marketplace in which someone needed a replacement wheel and another member of this community had an extra wheel which he freely gave to the MINI owner in need. . . .

I think I would prefer our community to be more like the other thread than this one.

When someone in our community is in need and we have what they need but don't really need it ourselves, take a moment to consider what your loss would be if you did something out of the goodness of your heart instead of thinking about your pocketbook.
Of course there is nothing wrong with selling used items to help pay for new mods, but when it comes to helping someone who has a need to repair a damaged part that you have a replacement for, just consider doing something nice for that person. This sort of altruism would work very well for un-needed stock bumpers after an aero kit upgrade, extra stock wheels, etc.
planeguy, you might make a couple bucks, but you won't make many friends in this community by trying to make a profit from parts that you do not even have yourself to sell. . . .
In my circle of friends here, our community is not defined by "text-book capitalism & supply and demand. " Instead, it is defined by true friendship and a genuine caring for our fellow MINI owners.

Well, at least he fessed up that car-parts.com was his 'source'.
It would more acceptable (though still silly) to give him the info and ask for remuneration than to attempt to sell it here on the forum.
That said the whole tipping thing is interesting - I think I'll start a thread in OT. My question - Tipping at 10% used to be the norm. Then it was 15%, now 18% (as claimed by MartyR). Since food prices rise over time, why would the percentage of tip increase as well as the base on which that percentage is given?
Also, as he said, we are a VERY tip conscious society. Go to a restaurant in Europe - they expect little or nothing in the way of tips (and as a result they don't churn tables.) I wonder if this is because they get paid a better wage, or just the American capitalistic society.
Back on topic - Zion, let us know if you get what you're looking for!

the supply and demand comment was not to define the relationship it was a comment to you can not get a price for something that is being given away. Its clear that no-one wants to tip, I understand that! Shoot, Im glad about that. keeps things cheap and FREE as Yuccapatrol pointed out.
Ok, so I will hang my head and walk in shame
Oh, and on the tipping thing, I was a waiter in high-school and I have always believed that in general only say 50% tip anything at all for service. Since then I have been able to travel around a bit and I tip for every service provided to me. So you guys are right In the local cultures perhaps tipping is not MORE prevalant, only from my perspective from the tourist traps.
Peace?
BTW.....Is anyone familiar with pricewatch.com or pricegrabber.com I would think there is a place for a website that gathers info from all the auto boards, ebay, car-part etc.....puts it in one place and lets consumers pick the lowest seller. I am sure someone out there is a web-designer and is looking for a new web-based buisness,
Smart-alec response
Planeguy, Howabout I charge you 2 bucks for any information on using pricegrabber or pricewatch.com. Then you can charge me for the business tip. Guess we'll call it even. I am truly kidding. I have enjoyed this thread. I always learn something on NAM.
Glad the Xenons worked out. BTW I did just see 1 passenger and 1 driver side on ebay yesterday.

i have one drivers side xenon im looking to either trade for a rear spoiler and an 02-04 xenon light. or 280 just for the light or 150 plus your light. it does not have the washer system. you can take yours off and put it on this one since i dont need the washer system. send me a pm and maybe we can work something out. the light is complete bulb ballast and motor. i would expect the same. and i did check it out and it does work.
