Anybody buy just............

pre-painted aero kit skirts through the dealer network? I called Classic MINI yesterday to inquire about buying a set of these in Pure Silver for my car and was told they CAN be ordered but to possibly expect a long wait because MINI would take them from a complete aero kit therefore breaking it up . They have the primered ones in stock and they are cheaper but I guess I am a little skeptical of the paint shop not matching it right. But then again they could be spot-on.

Hey Mike!

I gotta agree: what Classic Mini says sounds unreasonable. How would they handle an Aero Kit on a car that was wrecked? If only one skirt were damaged, would they have to buy the whole thing? That would be one nightmare insurance claim for a $54 part.

I had only the aero kit side skirts on GBMINI#2 - but they come unpainted, primed only.

They have their own part number; they can be ordered.

I was going to order the primed ones from Classic, BUT couldn't find a decent price locally to paint them,

So, I had CLASSIC paint them my color before sending them to me ...

They did and are awesome, I did have to get the local dealer to install them.

Similiar situation for me. I rather get the factory to prepaint them instead of worrying about it through a local shop, which is why I have to wait to order the side skirts since HB is not available yet from the factory.

A good body shop with MINI painting experience should have no trouble - check out pics of GBMINI#2 which was painted and looked perfect ...
