FS 2002 Chili Red Cooper S

Hello All - I am probably new to most people here; however, I have been lurking around for quite some time. This site has been super helpful. When I fell in love with the MINI I used this site to research the goods and bads for the MINI. I finally found one last year, and have had nothing but the best time in it. But all good things must come to an end. I thought that I would give you guys first dibs. My wife has just got pregnant, and I am ditching the cool ride for the 4-door sedan. The MINI is for sale.

Details on my 2002 Cooper S:
1. Chili red with red roof
2. White bonnet stripes from Cooper flags
3. Black interior
4. All services done
5. Coolant expansion tank recall fixed by Mini
6. Trunk rattle fixed by Mini
7. Autometer boost gauge installed without cutting original vacuum lines or splicing into electrical wires - email me and ask me how
8. PIAA fog lights - also no wire splicing (add a fuse kit!!!)
9. Front aero grills retrofit
10. Car has extended service warranty also!!!

mileage: 21,500 miles
only used 91 octane gasoline
this car was babied and has never seen a track

Hi and welcome to NAM:

There are many owners here with small children and the MINI has proven to be a very family friendly vehicle. Why get rid of your beautiful car for a boring sedan?

Check out some of the discussion threads regarding parenting and MINI ownership. You'll be surprised.

Congrats, but

I second this thought on keeping the Mini. I was going to cancel my order when we found out my wife was pregnant. She insisted I get it anyway because she knew how much I wanted one.

We got a used Subaru Forester for baby haulin' and I continued with the order. Is a second car an option?

Thanks guys for the advice. Your ideas were definitely tossed around, but when it comes down to it, the car is a manual and my wife not the greatest manual shift driver. Our other car is an X5, but I use that quite a bit, and my wife just can't be left with the manual car and the baby. Plus I would also like the extra space when hauling the baby! How exciting! Once again, thanks guys for trying, but we have already made up our decision. Hopefully, I can get the car to someone who will appreciate the car for what it is - hence why I posted here first. It will soon be posted on Autotrader, and I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again!

Help me understand your logic just a bit. You say you already have a BMW X5 which is a reasonable family car, but not very spacious given its exterior dimensions (A family member has one and I find the rear a bit cramped). So then, why not let the wife drive it? It seems to me the X5 is the perfect car for the chore and you can do your daily driving in the MINI... Problem solved.

Further, you could trade this MCS and get a new '05 MCS automatic that both of you can drive at any given time. The point that I am trying to make here is this: If you already have a big 4 door SUV, why do you need a second 4 door car? Seems redundant.

If she doesn't like driving the X5, then sell the SUV and get her a 4 door sedan. Aside from the MINI being a manual transmission car, I don't see why it has to go.

Remember.... Gas will go up this summer to $3 per gallon or more. You'll be glad then you kept the MINI.

See, I am trying really, really hard to prevent you from making a monumental mistake!

I understand your gesture, and it is well appreciated but I used the X5 most of the time. Taking out clients is quite hard in the mini. The mini was more for fun, but don't feel sorry for me. It is all for a good reason. My priorities have just changed for the time being, and I look forward to driving again.
