Historic Sports Car Races at Barber

Post here or email me if you plan to attend and I will notify the folks at Barber. Below is some information for car clubs who want to attend these races:

ATTENTION ALL ALABAMA SPORTS CAR CLUBS-HISTORIC SPORTS CAR RACING AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK

Make plans for your club members to bring their sports cars to Barber Motorsports Park April 2 & 3 and attend the 2005 HSR (Historic Sportscar Race). See www.barbermotorsports.com or www.hsrrace.com for race details. This is a prime opportunity for your club to have a Spring outing together in a great setting

Club members will be provided preferential parking for their sports cars in the Expo area. The Expo is located to the right just after you pass the main gate. For directions, at the end of the Parkway entrance, the museum will be straight ahead. Turn left and the main gate is ¼ mile ahead. There will be a Marshall at the entrance of the Expo area, so identify your club and they will let you enter. We will park everyone with their respective club.

The Expo area is right next to the track’s back straight and offers excellent views of the action. Additional spectator viewing with a higher overlook of the back straight and several turns is just to the left of the Expo area and within easy walking distance. Experts consider these two areas the best spectator locations. The world renowned Barber Museum is also within easy walking distance and is a “must see

Security will be provided at the Expo center for the cars. This will allow you to leave your car there and not be concerned for its safety, if you decide to walk to other areas. If you want to visit the paddock you must drive your car there, as the trams will not be available for this event. Even with security in the Expo, there is no guarantee of safety for your car or valuables, so you will park at your own risk.

Concession facilities will be located on the main road a short distance from the Expo entrance. You can also bring your personal supply of food, beverages, lawn chairs and tents. See the Barber website for additional rules and restrictions on such items. Restroom facilities will also be located in the Expo area.

You can order tickets either on the Barber website (choose HSR logo on events page), 205-327 RACE or 1-800-240-2300
