Which Floor Mat Is Best?

I am picking-up our MCS on Feb. 23. We have specified the Rubber S Mats thinking these will be easy to keep clean and will wear a long, long time. After seeing pix, the carpeted ones with a bright binding also look really classy. Which are better as far as not catching a foot while depressing the clutch etc....i.e. driving? Opinions please!!!

COCO MATS ARE GOOD FOR BAD WEATHER AREAS !!

You'll be glad you looked at these. I have these in my MINI's.

My friend told me about these and raved about them. They are a bit pricey! Especially since our MA is giving us the mats from Mini free of charge! The Cocos might be a future upgrade. Which pattern do you have? Do you have any pix?

Thanks!

I'll second the Cocomats recommendation! I ordered the Black w/Blue dots for my Cool Blue MCSC. They are fantastic -- well worth the money. And the service was second to none. The rear mats for the convertible are a different size than the hardtop. I sent a note to Cocomats when the rears didn't fit, with some dimensions and they made me a new set of rears no question asked.

(So if you want Black w/ Blue dots, you could order fronts only and I would gladly send you my extra set for the cost of shipping.)

Which FloorMats Are Best ??

I have black with silver in my MINI Cooper S "Open" as it matches the black leatherette and anthracite dash, and all beige mats in my PW/PW "S" that matches my cordoba beige leather interior.
They cost approx $100.00 but will last forever. Just shake out the dirt, and vaccum the carpet and your done. Why vaccum the carpet mats and then vaccuum the carpet. It's like doing the same thing twice.

Just my opinion.

I still have the same set of MINI rubber mats from almost two years ago - they still look and work great Although the rubber mats do give a colder, more industrial look versus a mat like the european/canadian plush carpet mats.

Cheers,
Ryan

The pix of the carpeted mats maybe misleading, the camera flash causes a reflection off the material used on the bound edges that makes them look a different color from the carpeting, which they are not...to the naked eye the bound edges are the same color as the carpeting.

Thanks for all of the replies.

At the moment I am sticking with the rubber S mats. I agree it gives an industrial look, but the ease of use and being pretty impervious to staining is attractive to me. When I test drove an MCS, it was a "40", it had the rubber mats and I liked them. Not as cozy a look, but easy.

When we ordered our car back in October, Classic MINI was having a special - free Euro shelf and floor mats. Julie asked me if I wanted the rubber or carpet mats. I asked her which she recommended, and she said rubber. (She said she's into horses, so they get real dirty!) I asked her if it would be all right for me to decide when I got there and could look at them, and she said that was fine.

When I got there and compared them, the carpet mats seemed very cheesy - thin, and sort of loosely woven. They looked much worse "in the flesh" and, to my eye anyway, I thought the rubber ones looked better than they do in the pictures.

My advice - FEEL the carpet mats.

I went with the rubber ones and am very happy with them. In fact, I'm ordering the matching rubber boot liner!

I have a set of diamond plate floor mats that look really sharp. They do get scratched up from shoes, but they still look good, and I get a lot of comments on them.

floor mats

I have a set of the mini carpet mats since 2003 and now 35000+ miles, they held up good. I have a set of the mini rubber mats that I use on top of the carpt mats in the winter, they work great containing melting snow from getting to my floor carpet. I've had very good results with the oem stuff.

I got both the rubber and the cloth......rubber for nearly all times.....cloth for the evening out, showing off the car, and definately non-rainey days.

Rubber is very durable and easy to clean. The diamond mats look amazing - how easy are they to keep clean?

Rubber for the nasty Ohio winter...and spring....and fall....
Carpet ones for the "other" nice days.

But we've got way cool twisties...so I guess Ohio is ok

In Canada, the carpet floor mats come standard equipment. I was really nice and asked the dealer to toss in the rubber ones as it snows here sometimes and they let me have them for free So I have both.

Anyone have a photo of the coco mats in a MINI? I've had a crappy $15 pair of generic carpet mats for 2.5 years since I refuse to buy the overpriced MINI carpet ones. I don't like the look of the rubber, either. For $70, I think the RSpeed ones are pricy for what you get, too. Mine are starting to look like crap, and the driver's side one has developed a dangerous tendency to creep forward over the pedals.

Here's a pic of my passenger side coco mat in my MCSC. The mats are black w/ blue and look great in the car.

Thanks! I'm thinking about going black with red dot, but not sure if the red would match. Sounds like the company will send a sample swatch to check out free of charge.

I'm interested to see what looks like dirt sitting on top of the mats! The website makes them sound like a black hole type of thing, absorbing everything and sucking it out of sight. Would you say that the mats are unusually dirty in that photo? If you shook them out, would they look completely clean? I'm really only willing to shell out the hundred bucks if the mats are going to look pretty much new for a long time.

In our just-delivered '05 MCS I put in dark tan Sisal mats which look great with the beige interior. They are a finer weave than coco mats and have a rubber backing. I recommend them. Source (they also have coco):

Yes, they were dirty. I just shook the dirt out and rubbed a damp sponge over the mat and it looks good as new (of course they're only 3 months old to begin with ).

Cool, thanks for your help! Enjoy the new convertible with the warmer weather (We're supposed to get 2-4" of snow tonight in Boston!)...
