Chicago, Here We Come!

We're all packed, the movers will load us tomorrow, and then we're off to Chicago.

The MINI will travel safely in the moving truck No reason to throw another 1900 miles on there

We might leave a little late tomorrow, but we hope to make it to Albuquerque the first night. We'll shoot for St Louis the next day, and stroll into Chicago on Saturday morning.

Hopefully the weather cooperates. For now, it looks like we'll be chasing some rain all the way into Missouri.

Best wishes to you, Sambusik!! It was a good idea to ship your MINI in the moving van! Hope you enjoy your new home. I KNOW you'll love all the great food and great MINIacs there!

Hello from a Holiday Inn Express somewhere in the outskirts of Albuquerque. Thank god for wireless internet access.

Made it from Phoenix to here tonight. I-17 was closed due to a fuel spill, so sat there for an hour. My bad for not listening to Haf and taking the alternate route.

Cats are behaving excellent until now!! They're sniffing around the hotel room.

Goal for tomorrow is St Louis

Albuquerque to St Lou? Quite a goal.
You should stop in Shamrock, TX for a some pix at the Conoco.

You should spend the night in Tulsa,OK or Rolla, MO.

We didn't make it as far as St Louis. Decided to stop in Springfield, MO instead.

The cats did great today! They slept all day

We're at the in-laws in northern Illinois, we rolled in around 4pm. The weather here is great, but that storm we were ahead of all this time is catching up.

We took the pike through Oklahoma, paid a $3.50 toll twice. We stopped in Tulsa for sushi. Yes, sushi in Tulsa You gotta take my word for it though, this place is AMAZING. It's called In the Raw at it's on Peoria where all the other "trendy" places are. Also saw a totally decked out drag queen at the QuikTrip. Never did I think I would be having sushi and seeing drag queens in Tulsa, OK.

It took us about 8 hours from Springfield, MO to Spring Grove, IL today. We're glad to be here. I'm completely covered in cat hair, and the car is gonna need some serious cleaning!

Waiting patiently for my MCS to arrive on the moving truck.

Went to try to get a license yesterday, I have to say the required documentation is ridiculous!!

They want a current license, another form of id (birth cert. of Green Card), a frigin Social Security card, and proof of established residency, such as mail.

I have all of those, except I don't know when the last time I saw my social security card was I had to go apply for a new one.

Apparently, I have to take a written test too.

Could this be any more difficult?

The MCS comes out of storage in mid-March and out to Chicago  It's so nice seeing Mini's all around, in Wrigleyville I see at least 1 daily, usually 2 or 3. Great city, tho I question why I just didn't come here right out of college

I went to the DMV to inquire about getting a new lisc, what is this jimble-jamble about taking a written test??? No points/accidents ever???

Also, their is this thing about having a city sticker? I'm in a gated lot, so I should be ok, right???

But... The biggest killer, is... Front plates

I've been in Illinois for 5 years now... I have yet to put a front plate on any of my cars. I've only been stopped once and I talked my way out of it

Re: the city sticker... here's the deal. If you're stopped you could get hit with another ticket for no sticker. So I figure if you go without a sticker for a year or two and get hit with an extra ticket - you're breaking even or coming out ahead.
