What about THIS intercooler + water/meth

Soooooo I stumbled across this pos intercooler on ebay , it I guarantee has miniscule cooling capabilities BUT massive flow potential and I bet it would have the Least pressure drop vs ANY intercooler.. now , what IF I run THIS intercooler PLUS water/meth injection at anything above 5psi go maintain adequate cooling , I would inject the water/meth into an ic pipe pre intercooler too so it would cool the intercooler and dissipate into the air stream and fully atomize hopefully before it got into my cylinders because I'd want the cooling capabilities more than the extra knock reduction. Opinions ???

haha yea ! id definitely be relying on the meth for cooling but i bet it would be fine just Normal driving , so long as the engine isn't making much boost..
but I see potential here to make some decent power.
I wonder IF that intercooler cools as good as the oem ????
I'm kinda tempted to pull the trigger on it and 1st trying it on my stock clubman and see how iats n stuff are vs the oem ic and IF , thats a big IF , if it cools as well i think it would be worth trying to make some power with..
I mean the stock intercooler is halfway decent, imo its definitely the best option for anything at oem/stock boost levels..

If you only need intake cooling, straight water would be what you want. Me, I’d rather not rely on fluid injection for cooling. Bad things can happen when you run out.

Lessons from the master ... it's all about keeping the air cool. Without actual data, you have no way of knowing how much power you can make with this bolt on or that bolt on.

Thanks for that short, a lot of information in the less-than-a-minute video

I can monitor my iat , afr , actual boost/vacuum along with timing , short/long term fuel trims and knock and i know its not 100% ideal but it atleast gives me an idea of how the engine is operating..
so while yes I may not know exactly the power increase I could atleast see if boost increases or if it pulls timing or it feels sluggish or peppy.
a HUUUUUGE mistake people make modifying engines is they think bigger is best but not only too large of an intercooler but also poorly designed cores can rob boost and drop intake velocity and kill power. I have done lots of personal testing with numerous different intercoolers on both the r53 supercharged engine , n14 and the n18 and I can honestly say 90% of the intercoolers I tested even at my STUPID high boost levels , 90% of the intercoolers were overkill too large and caused too much of an intake velocity drop for my liking even running MORE boost than MOST people do with these engines.
idk if you know of rich holdner ?? I've actually discussed this VERY thing in depth with him on a live chat for like 3hr one day lolol and he ended up making a video pertaining to it then too actually.
that man is nothing but knowledge and is a cool dude. I took alot from that and have applied it to my builds over the years and it's been some of the best advice I was given.
but lol I'm gonna tell you there's FAR More to it than just running the lowest iat possible..

Here's him actually talking about exactly what I'd discussed with him years ago...
it's a beating topic but unfortunately it's constantly overlooked and forgotten because everyone likes a big Shiney cool looking intercooler. Lol
