Service transmission oil required

Hello to the forum. I recently purchased a 2020 hatchback S with 10,000 miles on it. It’s in great condition and loving it so far. Two service messages just appeared. One says drive train: check soon and the other says Service transmission oil required. Can someone tell me what is likely triggered these and if I need to be immediately concerned. Getting ready to leave on a two hour trip and trying to figure out if I’m going to cause any damage by driving it.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide happy holidays to all

Automatic or manual?

The service reminders are likely time based, since the car is ~5 years old. 10,000 miles is not very much for transmission. You will probably be fine, but I would start making plans for service.

Your issue may possibly be related to this topic I posted on this forum.

I learned that in August of 2025 Mini messaged its dealerships (a DCSnet nessage) that it was aware of a software glitch that was causing the vehicle to notify owners of a need to request transmission service sooner than needed. They learned of it when they began experiencing shortages in their primary transmission oil (DCTF 2 - 83 22 5 B3A CB1) leading to back orders. The message emphasized in bold print, "Unfortunately, there is not an approved alternative product"

Unfortunately, the dealership I used for transmission service ignored this message and used an alternative product when servicing my transmission a couple of months later. The result was catastrophic transmission failure in less than 10 days. Every ChatGPT query I make leads to the cause being the wrong transmission oil being used. I'm still attempting to resolve this issue with the dealership who now reports it needs a new transmission.

If anyone else has experienced something similar, please let me know. I'm hoping to avoid litigation, but that obviously cannot be ruled out.
