2013 R56 - Rear Brake Pipes.
2013 R56 - Rear Brake Pipes.
Looking for Recommendations.
In the process of dropping my rear subframe, the hardline pipe snapped inside the fitting. A bit more information: The car is virtually rust free, but had been sitting so there was heavy corrosion to the subframe, bearings and brakes, but the brake lines themselves, aside from the last four inches, are pristine for a car this age.
I'm a hobbyist, but do have some mechanical skills, but this is new territory for me so I'm looking for some assists. Most information I've found thus far is either for Gen1, or for pre LCI, which I'm finding is just different enough be wary.
As far as I can tell I have basically three options:
1. Replace the hardline from the ABS back, which I believe is Part; 34306794860. Has anyone done or have experience with this? Is it practical to do with only Jack Stands? Is the part pre-bent? How inaccessible is the ABS?
2. Trace the pipe back to an accessible straight section and splice in a junction, and DIY a replacement from the splice to the subframe bracket/soft line. Is this a 'bad' idea from a safety perspective?
3. Nuclear solution: Complete the subframe work to get the car back on 4 weeks and have it towed to a professional.
Any thoughts/assists would be gratefully appreciated
