This car is new to me and seems a little different. High-milage 2004 Base. Problems starting for a day or 2, then no start. Rest. Start. Run. Stop. Rest. No start. Wiggle key--start, run. A few days of this and fuel pump dies (?) going up a long hill. No crank, no crank...jump the battery and it tries to start but won't idle.
Checked relays, fuses
Replaced fuel pump, filter
Cleared airways
Visual inspection of tubes and wires--all appear intact
Tries to start now, but doesn't idle and grinds some after ~5 seconds of turning key.
Not an exhaustive check-over. I have minimal experience troubleshooting & none with this vehicle, short of the past few days.
I know the inertia switch was supposedly phased out in 2002, but I don't know all this car's personal history. I've looked in all the alleged spots for one. Not even sure if the attempt to turn over would happen if that were the problem --but in the search, I unwraped the pictured electric connection of unknown identity.
Input? I'm at the purge valve, something electrical I'm missing, or the alternator --so it stands to say I could use some help please.
