R56 What size front brake rotors? 280 or 276mm...or 294
What size front brake rotors? 280 or 276mm...or 294
Hi. I'm new here.
I'm inheriting a used 2008 Cooper S, hardtop, 2 door. Stealership says needs new brakes and rotors - then quoted part number for a 294mm JCW only size rotor.
When looking on Rockauto, I see 280 and 276 and 294 size rotors, yet no distinction on the brake pads.
How do I distinguish (and order) the correct brake rotor size without taking it off first?
While I'm here, what parts need replaced during a typical brake job on these cars - do the caliper pistons freeze up, or need new slide pins?

Your 2008 Cooper S should be an R56, and would use 294mm front rotors. The R56 JCW uses the 316mm rotors.
You might be confusing the R53 JCW, which had 294mm front rotors.
When browsing RockAuto, make sure you select 2008 Mini with the 1.6 "Turbocharged" engine. Also be sure to select a pad from a reputable manufacturer to make sure you get the correct part.
