R60 Correct Coolant?
Correct Coolant?
We just did the timing chain on my son’s car. While inhad everything apart I went ahead and replaced the water pump since it has over 300,000 miles on it. I pulled apart the lower hose and let it drain.
How much coolant out of the system does that drain?
Also I didn’t even think about it until I filled it back up that the coolant that came out was a yellow/green and I filled it back up with euro spec that listed mini, it was blue.
did I screw the pooch on this one and mess something up. The car is new to us so I have no idea what type of coolant it was that I drained out.

Spec on coolant is more important than color. It used to be any coolant that meet BMW GS 94000 spec was good. More info here: https://www.koedbmw.com/en-dk/page/engine-coolants
It should be the LC-87 blue coolant from mini or equivalent from other manufacturers. The link the other poster sent is great and it is listed there. I would drain and flush and use your blue cool . Total system capacity is only like 7 liters if I remember so you have enough with 1 gal of concentrate and 1 gal of distilled water .
Talked about here. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ant-flush.html
G48 spec stuff. 50/50 with distilled water.
When you fill it you might have to bleed it a couple times. I did that on mine and all the air came out. Some people like to use the tools to do it. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...etter-way.html
