R60 2014 Mini Cooper S Countryman ECU/DME replacement
2014 Mini Cooper S Countryman ECU/DME replacement
Hi, I'm new to this forum so apologies if this question has already been asked. My 2014 Mini Cooper S Countryman stopped running recently while driving. The initial diagnosis from my local independent shop was a bad fuel pump. However now they're saying the ECU/DME needs replacing, and that they don't have the expertise nor the diagnostic tools to properly install and reprogram a new computer. I called a couple of other local shops that specialize in Mini/BMW repairs, and one claimed they could replace and reprogram the ECU for $2,700. The local Mini dealership service center said the parts alone would cost me $2,445 with at least two hours of labor, so that would easily cost $3K or more.
I found several online services that offer refurbished "plug 'n drive" ECUs that can be cloned and installed. Has anyone tried these services with any success? Here's a link to one service called Precision ECU that claims plug n' drive and no programming needed for $732. https://www.precisionecu.com/product...countryman-r60.
Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated!
