I just got my R56 N18 back from the shop where it was for a major "heart surgery" (closed deck, pistons, rods,....). When they put the engine back in one wire remained unconnected. Does anyone has an idea where this wire goes?
I'd guess it's a connector for a sensor, based on location perhaps thermostat or oil temp. A search on the part number visible on the connector 7543312-02 suggests it could be oil temp or exhaust gas temp sensor. Hook up a real time scan tool and see if there are any sensors showing open circuit or bad data.
It was the oil pressure control cable. Connected it and the "circuit open" error cleared. The pressure is now normal too, which was over 110 psi giving it some revs.
Now I have the same question for the cable which was connected to the oil pressure solenoid until now. No faults in DME however. Strange.
