No signal to power steering pump

Hi all,

I'm experiencing a problem with our 2004 Mini R50 1.6. We had some electrical problems recently. Sometimes the passenger window doesn't go up or down (you can hear a click from a relay somewhere) and the odometer sometimes resets with a lot of clicking sounds (not the total mileage, but the short distance mileage you can reset manually). Also the AC unit didn't function at all (just once).

Now the power steering has stopped working. Our mechanic has tested the pump and it works, but it doesn't get the signal to start. He says he can trace the signal all the way, but it might cost more than the car is worth because it's hard to trace the signal throughout the car. After calling with a mini expert he says it's possible that the body control module, BCM, is faulty and that would be their first guess. They would replace it and go from there.

I drove the car home, thinking I could maybe repair the BCM, but when looking through all the wiring diagrams I can't see any mention of power steering at all... Does anyone know what part of the BCM is responsible for the power steering signal? I can replace the whole thing as well, but because I can't find any mention of power steering I'm having doubts. I trust my mechanic since he is a friend as well, so I wouldn't expect him to just say something wrong.
